View Full Version : Ride this Saturday 23rd - Roll Call. Who is coming?
OK ladies and gentlemen. I have been assured that the regular ride attendees are not all hooligans and that sensible riding can be accommodated. So rather than wait for someone else to sort something out, how about Saturday morning, nice little loop Fleet - Hook - Wellington - Basingstoke - Alton - Odiham - Home?
Give $i, Dan and co. a chance to show us all how inclusively they can ride and allow us GM virgins to get together.
I need to be back by lunchtime, so would need to be an early start for me.
How about 09:00 meet for a 09:30 set-off from the Outsheaf which is at the top of Fleet Road in Fleet. Go up the highstreet (actually called Fleet Road) When you get to the top, there are a few pubs. Goto the traffic lights, turn right then immediately left into the Oatsheaf carpark.
Map here.

Probably take a couple of hours max perhaps a little longer if we stop for a cup of tea/bacon sandwich at Alton Station (anyone know if it's open on a Saturday morning)
Usual caveats about rain, snow, fog apply.
Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers,
Mark
Ive stickied this.
Sounds good to me

Not all, just a select few are dangerous hooligans. ;)

Bring waterproofs, thermals and fog lights? :?
I'll decide later in the week but most probably yeah.

Looks like I will have to politely decline now. Got a b'day party Friday night so I won't be in any fit state to ride. Have a good ride though.
Weather looks good, so no rain related excuses. Just want to make sure I do not end up sitting in a pub car park for half an hour like Billy-No-Mates or waiting with a couple of other people for half an hour while no one else turns up.
Last yes responses were:-
Falc
Stu
Law
Marcdbl
$i (possibly)
hp_saucy & her man possibly
If possible let me know if you're still coming. Either way unless I hear otherwise we (or I) will be on our (my) way at 9:30
Cheers,
Mark

I'm still a maybe. Won't know for sure until about midnight! (Got a bunch of stuff that needs doing at home, and if I can't finish it tonight then I have to finish it in the morning)....
Right, checked the 24 hour forecast, rain will hold off til the afternoon so I'm a definite. Don't leave Fleet without me if I'm late. :)
Not going to bring any waterproofs. Wise?
If it rains, you get wet. You soon dry out. I have managed to stuff a pair of waterproof trouses under the pillion seat, but usually by the time I've decided it's raining hard enough to stop, get off and put them on I'm already about as wet as I'm going to be so don't bother.

Bummer. Here as well - and we are pretty high up on a hill. Very odd :? .
Clean your lights and assume yourself invisible. Hopefully should all be gone by the time we set off. Take care if going down the Hogs Back
Clean your lights and assume yourself invisible.
So we can go around pinching peoples money and drinks? :D
If its anything like last weekend the sun should eventually burn through it.
Always welcome Jon though of course the offer of a drink and food does help this process ;)
Had to give it a go

Yep, took a wrong turn, Got back in time to see the Liverpool - Spurs game kick off.
SV_Dan, since you were not there I did what you said and played your role a bit. Got stuck at traffic lights with Falc and HP so I revved the engine (stalled ) then did a mini burnout with the rear sliding right a bit (need a bit more practice),

Eeexcelent (said in Mr burns type voice). We'll have you doing kneedowns in no time!
Thanks for turning out ladies and gentlemen and I am pleased to report a complete lack of hooliganism. Far too many cars around to get up to much but still enjoyable.
Cheers,
Mark
Glad to see you all had a good time, sorry again for not being there  .
