im sorry people, i have found a decent engine in good condition for a very reasonable price... the bike is in such good condition it would be a shame to break it for parts (although the bike is worth more in parts!!! lol). i am picking the engine up and fitting at the weekend. when i get my mot and tax, i can sell number plate which will fund all the work, and buy me some shiney bits that i have always wanted (exhaust and rear hugger)

very sorry, and hope i havnt caused much inconvenience

best regards

adam

Hello,
just over a year ago my engine died (i think its big end related), i have not done anything about it due to time and money, this bike was my pride and joy, the bike has been stored in my garage, i am considering breaking the bike, i need to recoupe cost. the bike has 10,000 miles on it and is in great condition (except for the engine :( ). the colour is Y9H Pearl Lively yellow and any damage is listed next to the item, if there is no condition listed next to the item, the item is in good condition. pictures will be avalible soon. im pretty sure i havnt listed everything or have made some typos, so please post any quires. i have based my prices on items others have sold on here and ebay.
this morning, i was getting quotes for the number plate and its value is 500-1500, i tried to sell seperatly, but acordign to the DVLA, if the vechile has been with out tax for over a year, the registration cannot be transferred, in order to do so, i would need to re tax the bike, but for that, i would need an MOT, and im pretty sure i cant get one with my engine not running :( so i think it may be going with the frame, hence the high price..... i think i will only be breaking the bike if i find a buyer for the frame and reg, i will be listing it on ebay soon.... who ever buys the frame could even sell the plate when they are done to re-coupe cost... go get online quotes and see.
so please have a look... let me know if your interested in any parts.

i will not be selling parts until the frame has gone, or i get interested buyers for a large percentage of parts.

payment by cash, check, or pay pal, bankers draft... payment must clear before postage.

prices do not include postage and packing, this cost will be a small as possible.

collection can be made from Luton, Bedfordshire

please please please if you have dibs on an item, please inform me if you wish to drop out.

cheers

RH Lower Fairing is the wrong colour, as I've just been informed. Mine is the dull Yellow, whereas Adam's is the brighter one.

So Fizz you're welcome to first dibs on that :D

also feel free to make higher bids on parts with a name already down, sorry other buyers, at the end of the day im trying to re-coupe as much as possible

Don't think that's allowed here, (see selling rules) and you don't want to upset Cronos when you've got so much to sell.

To be honest everybody on here is pretty decent about this kind of thing. I doubt it would happen anyway.

Adam, have you thought about getting a 2nd hand engine ? and sorting it out that way. It seems a shame to break your bike, it seems in good condition apart from the engine. You could always sell the bling after market bits to raise money for the engine, even if you dont keep the bike I would imagine a complete bike is going to be easier to shift than a pile of bits that nobody wants.

I'm sure The Mass bought his second engine from Mike1234 on this site.

Just a thought...

dirtydog
22-09-06, 09:33 PM
i agree with Fizz, you'd be better off getting a second hand engine and then sell it as a complete bike.

Frames with V5 are only going for about £250 on ebay at the moment so you'd be extremely lucky to get anywhere near the money you're wanting

Well I was just making a suggestion, Personally it makes my heart break to strip down a tidy bike for spares.

If you notice my name is down against some of those parts so I'm shooting myself in the foot here to.

Whether I did this by PM or not the outcome might well be the same. Also if you notice it says "Maybe" in the thread title. So nobody is guaranteed to get any of the parts. Adam may well change his mind.

Shame on me for trying to help another human being out hey...

I was in the process of restoring my SV but now during to lacking funds I may do a u-turn on that and just leave it for now, In which case I have a curvy engine available. Always a possibility.

Yer stripping a bike that is written off isnt as bad but a bike thats so complete and clean is always sad

It's sound advice fizz and it's good of you to suggest something that could help him out.

I'm sure site members would rather adam did things the best way for him rather than shoot himself in the foot so they can get their hands on his bike bits.

its all very hard, i was stripping the bike down at the weekend, cleaning all the parts, and while i was doing it, i was thinking to myself, it is in such good condition, it felt very wrong, it would be a big shame to put an SV to the grave, especialy with such low miles.

i have been looking for engines, i am trying to find an engine with less than 10k miles on it, is proving difficult! but i will keep trying.

i havnt made my mind up, but like i said, i will not shift the parts until i find a buyer for the frame.

its nice to have all you recomend to keep the bike in 1 peice, nice to have people care

unless i spoke to some one that had done it before,,, i wouldnt even attempt

..........

I may have missed something here (probable because I only skip read threads) but why does the engine need to have less than 10k miles on it. The SV engine is good for many more than that, mines just gone over 50k miles.

adam_castell
25-09-06, 09:38 PM
just so i can get as longer life out of it as possible, and it will match the bike mileage then

Shouldnt you have thought about the engine thing before you started talking about stripping it?

In all honesty, if you sell all the parts, you should have enough to buy another SV in one bit.

Frames go for about £400.

a frame worth £400
a number plate worth £600-1500

is very frustrating that that number plate cant be sold until that frame has an mot and tax :-(

to be honest, i dont think the plate will add much value to the frame, you would need to find somone that wants a frame & is called kas :? .... i think you should get a engine and fit itso this way u get to keep the plate....

adam_castell
26-09-06, 01:11 PM
the owner wouldnt need to be called kaz, if they were cleaver they would sell the plate to recoupe/make money.

but that is what i intend to do, fix the bike, and sell the plate, i have had an offer of £600 cash for the plate, or if i could wait, leave it advatising with plate companies and fetch 1k easily.

this plate will pay for my engine and more :)
