View Full Version : I nearly got a new fleece today

My next door neighbour got his new toy today, chopped in his immaculate Bandit 600 for a Trumpet 955i, nice it is too. Wanting to try it out I took him to the MoFo playground over the bridge.

Phoned VB at Abergavenny, busy as usual, this geezer is just so popular. So we took a blat down the A40 towards Llandovery but turned off onto the A470 towards 'that' road to give the Trumpet a good shakedown. We stopped at the ice cream and burger place on the bend, VB joined us there later with a dirty bike.

1000 sheep road really did live up to its name. With neighbour and VB blating down the road we knew nothing that the sheep were plotting an ambush on the leading rider (me  ) so I was hurtling down the road, a straight bit so I'm a tad quicker, when one of the little blighters just casually stepped into the road right in front of me, staggering back and fourth trying to get in my way, this chap should have a target tattooed on him he really was that good. God knows how I missed him, I had nearly everthing locked up and just managed to miss the little chap. It was really that close to wearing a new sheep on the front of the bike.

Thankfully VB had warned us on several times about the sheep with there stealth attack methods.

Oh and did I mention that VBs bike had a couple of flies on it today

Thanks Valleyboy for the offer of a cuppa, I could have done with one, but neighbour would have been hung by the wotsits though for getting back late to missus neighbour who was worrying about him all the time.

Sorry for not phoning everyone, it was a last minute blat.

The new Trumpet, the Beenz bike and the MoFo ice cream stop.

I'll definitely be out when its colder, maybe not wearing my power ranger cow in favour of some warmer textile stuffs. HG here I come.

As for those that might have made the target, they might have just been sleeping or spying ready for unsuspecting bikers

I had several comments at Thunder Road that they didnt beleive it was a high mileage bike as it was so clean... still, they didnt offer me anywhere near enough for me to part with the bike....

How much did they offer you for it ?

£2200.... which is £2K less than hat I paid for it exactly a year ago.....

But doesnt it have twice as many miles on it now as it did a year ago... how does what they've offered you compare with parkers etc etc and comparable year and milleage bikes on biketrader...

Does the dealer in question know that you think the motor is f*cked ???

The dealer doesnt know the engine has slight problems.... its considerably less than whats in the Parkers price guide.... anyway, at this rate, getting the engine fixed looks like it will be cheaper!

Was discussing with Beenz yesterday, it cant be something really serious, as it would have gone by now.. though it is something that needs attention... also had a chat with the local mechanics.. they dont think theres anything wrong with it...

so may just call in a favour or two from some people I know and get it checked out... at the end of the day, its still doing the speeds for the revs etc.. its just labouring getting there, afterall, it may just be the cams getting tight, which I have been told is fixable without replacing the cams...
