Done. Surely Richard Hammond who despite going through what must of been a terrible ordeal would not for one second want the show to be axed, especially when the incident appears to be a complete accident which could not be foreseen

Why, Top Gear is pathetic. Over paid muppets carrying out (at our expense) stupid stunts thought out whilst pi**ed up in a local one Friday night!
Er, thats a NO then.

It was bound to happen that the PC brigade would want it taken off the air - once again, it was his choice to get in that car, no one forced him at gunpoint - who is anyone to say "You arent allowed to do that, there is an element of danger"

Signed!

We are talking about a rather highly paid TV presenter here are we not? Also a TV programme that is not from memory often considered cutting edge?

Why all of this ridiculous out pouring of emotion then?

Petition not signed. :?

*My comments of course do not take in to consideration that I have no wish to see anyone injured no matter what their line of work.*

With all the current shirt on the telly it's one of the few things worth watching...
In fact I can't think of any other regular programmes I'd bother setting the vid for :D

Quite. Whilst I wish the guy a full and speedy recovery, the whole event here has been total overkill. A BBC TV presenter is not quite Scott of the Antartic!
Sorry to sound a bit heartless, but its all been a bit pathetic really. And thats no fault of Richard Hammonds. Get Well soon.

I love watching Top Gear when I get half the chance, but usually I dont (life etc). I'd never really had an opinion on Hammond before the crash, but now, it seems in my eyes that his a top bloke, if a little mental.

The way I see it, is the PC brigade as whole are saying "Hey, congratulations on pulling through after your accident, but you no longer have the right to choose what to do, and whilst we're at it, until you find a new one, you don't have a job. Neither do all those other people that worked on the show, because you had an accident, which anyone can have. By the way, that house you've just exchanged contracts on & taken out a mortgage with your wife? Forget that, as you'll be finding it hard enough to put food on the table for your kids. But like we said, congratulations on being alive, you have something to be thankful for!"

Wucking Fankers they are (IMHO obviously).

Baph, don't get me wrong, I agree entirely with your PC, Nanny state comments.
Its just that the current format of Top Gear is inane bollox imo.
.......and yes, I know I am in the minority here!

I don't watch it anymore either, I started to find it a bit boring as each show just consisted of:

Scripted banter
Thrashing some supercar that no real people can afford round an airfield
Stupid fixed race to Timbuktu with Clarkson in a Lockheed Blackbird versus May and Hammond two up on a minimoto.

Its only saving grace really was the celerity interview which where occasionally interesting.

Just signed too!!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and some people's are that Top Gear isn't up to much. Fair enough, if that's what you think then good for you. Like the majority of people I'll never drive most of the cars featured on the show but if all they test drove was Trabant's, FSO's, BMW's and Vectra's and only featured the tame racing driver known as The Stig hooning around the track with an electric powered supermarket trolly from Kwik Save, the show would be relegated to the 3am slot on Men & Motors faster than Jimmy Carr can get around their track in a reasonably priced car.

Personally, I quite like the heavily scripted improvised banter, the tense, knife edge races from Peking to Kings Cross with Clarkson in a Lear jet versus Mr. May and the (get well soon) Mr. Hamster riding a Honda C50. Hell, I even watch the repeats on Sky!

Sad, I know but I've watched Top Gear for as long as I can remember (Noel Edmunds was a presenter and that bloke who's the father of one of the members of Supergrass - think it's the drummer??) and I'd be sorry if it ever left our screens because of an unfortunate accident where one of the presenters who, despite being badly injured, looks like he's going to make a great recovery and be physically and mentally able to continue doing what he clearly loved - driving un-affordable exotica at the license payers expense thanks to the unique way the BBC is funded.

Top gear is unique, because the BBC has no advertising they can be truly impartial. Except when Jezza is talking about Vauxhall

And no advertising is exactly what the petition is. They wont cut a show that is due to get its highest ever ratings. The whole lot is spin.

Great show though

Not signed. Nothing to do with The Hamster, whom I hope makes a full recovery; it's just not as good as it used to be.

I like Clarkson's inane ramblings and outrageous similies, but the truth as I see it is that the quality of the presenters is covering up for a lack of deeper substance. IMHO, of course. I no longer watch it every week; I'll watch it if there's nothing else on.

It should be axed and replaced with a motorbike show, which at the moment would be something unique on mainstream UK TV.

You really think that the PC brigade will have the show axed and replaced with a motorbike show? :? If you let them win, it'll quite likely be banning any kind of motorsport from the TV etc.

It's like TB wasting millions of tax payer's money on having fox hunting banned: I don't agree with fox hunting at all and think that it is cruel and barbaric BUT the PC brigade are just eroding more and more away from our freedom of choice.

Top Gear wont get scrapped as its one of the worlds most watched TV programs. The BBC will make a small fortune selling it to other networks.

I am a big fan of the show but heres a word of warning. If you ever get tickets to go see the show recorded it does not mean that you are 100% of getting in. I went down about 3 years ago and was told we could not go in the studio was full! I was allmightly pieed off as I had been at work all night and had to travel about 240 miles each way!
