Decided I want to get it fixed up and into better condition than it is.
It currently needs 3 things doing to it.not in any particular order.
1) New Chain/Sprockets
2) Electrics checked out and sorted
3) Oil leak fixed.
Is there anyone who is mechanically minded that would be willing to give me a hand with these things?
Not in any rush to do them, and would like to do them myself with assistance rather than just throw money at the problem.
So, anyone familiar with late 90's CG's who has a couple of free hours/days in the next few months?
David
I'm a bit far away, but if I'm ever that way & you haven't sorted it (or you want a painful ride out my way on the CG), I've got a multimeter & I'm not afraid to use it!

Ah, the glorious CG125. One of the best bikes ever made. did 3 months apprenticeship learning my road craft on one last year. Bought it for £500. Sold it for £500.
Think I still have the Haynes manual for it somewhere. I'm ok/competent when it comes to home mechanics, so willing to help you out as and when. Only thing I'm nervous of is electrics. But I'm sure we could figure it out together.
The CG125 is a great bike to do home mechanics on. Very very simple.
The version I had (1991 model) had a fully enclosed chain. Why don't other manufacturers do that? Would make chain maintenance much much easier.

You can rebuild a CG with a pair of pliars and 10cc of mouse blood :)
i rode from london to newquay, some off road, and back again, without using a singe motorway with a CG125 and a GS125 (me on the CBR6 though)
they managed it, no problems.
where is the oil leak coming from ?
the new chain and sprockets is a doddle, the oil leak is gonna be pretty easy too,
not sure about the electrics.
