just found a post with this site on. why r all the good deals have to be done online
if i drive the 150mile round trip to a shop to buy somthing they should at least charge the same as if i sit here on my @rse drinking coffee
the shop wants to charge me twice as much for going to their shop to look round
+ the fact that it will cost in petrol :toss:

Because it's cheaper for them to run their business online, so they want to encorage you to use it?
Stupid thread.

Probably because it still makes them money.

Except that you should probably try things on as per lids, leathers/back protectors and gloves before buying.
... Best bet is to go to a shop near you to try things on and order online I guess.
if its on offer online, it should be on offer in the shop
if its on offer online, it should be on offer in the shop
why?

WHY,WHY,WHY?
ITS FAVOURITISM TO PEOPLE WITH THE INTERNET,
IF ITS £50 ITS £50
YES I AM SHOUTING
Have you actually contacted the nice folks at J&S?
If you NEED to try something on to make sure it fits right, lids, leathers etc etc, then give them a bell. Ask them if they've got the item(s) in stock, and go try them on.
Makes no odds to them to seel them at internet price or at shop price, but it costs them more to get stock to the shop from a warehouse, so they put the prices up a little.
This is what I do, and I take along a printout of the price I saw it on their website. I go to the shop (which is also their HQ) and pay the t'inter-web price.
Simple really.
yes, i did phone & he said if you come to the shop we will charge you full price
i could go to bristol & try things on,then come home to cardiff to order them....it just seems stupid
hmmm, ok. Are you going to the NEC show? If you can wait that long then you can often get good deals. I'm planning on getting a new pair of Rukka trousers.
Then dont deal with J&S then :?
I do understand your fustration, but it really is a matter of logistics.
I cant understand that companys that trade on the tinternet, but have stores, will not price match, but its for the same reason i suppose.

I agree with hovi5 that products should not be cheaper on the 'net than in the shops.
This is why we are all DOOMED because of the tinternet!

Why, would you prefer things to be as expensive online as the shops?

WHY?
Internet warehouse
5 blokes picking the items and sending them 100's of people ordering
vs
25 stores x 5-6 people in each shop, 25 x overheads of rent/council tax/insurance 25xLogisitcs/deliveries etc etc
Which ones cheaper to run. Remind me why shops stuff is dearer? J&S are cheaper anyway than most.

BUTif they have a shop & an ONLINE shop they should both charge the same :winner:
BUT if they have a shop & an ONLINE shop they should both charge the same :winner:
Should they? That means that you want J&S to charge the shop prices online does it? Since you don't specify it should be the cheaper of the two that should apply.
Items sold in the shop could be considered "Shop soiled" and therefore a discount applicable on that basis, but it isn't like that is it?
In my case, I guess I've just been lucky that I've got away with internet prices in the store. That, and they probably knew that I would just go home & order online anyway, so they'd rather make the sale today in the store, than wait until next month to get my money.
Look at me, sat here all smug like :D
Get yourself down M&P in Swansea
They currently have one store, call 01792 224453 to check opening times as it's different to their call centre times. Prices are the same though.
