Bit random... but is wheeling on a bicycle harder than wheeling on a motorcycle?? Spent most of last summer trying it on a bicycle and only just about managed it, but not successfully enough to try it on a motobike.....

maybe try it one day

There's not so much pedalling involved in wheelieing a motorbike. Hence it's easier physically but more expensive if it all goes horribly wrong.

That's nice to know :)

I've read the post on how to wheelie (which sounds great), but already finding it real hard on a bicylce. Thing that worries me is that bicycles are much lighter and so would assume it's much easier to recover from & like you say less expensive!

Will just have to pluck up the courage one day....

I can wheelie a bicycle all day long, or until i get tired. I find its easier than wheelieing a motorcycle, and if you flip it, it dosnt hurt at all. One hander's are harder though...

[EDIT] wheelieing C90's is bloody good fun!

I can't wheelie a pushbike, don't know why but I could just never do it. Then again, mountain bikes are easier to bunnyhop.

lol.. and easier to do 2 foot drops too. Went down off a high kerb on a fazer which made a horrid noise, was worried I'd damaged something!!

What about wheelie schools? Any one tried them and recommend one? Many girls out there wheelie?

Know it's a bit of an old post but hey...

Pushbike wheelies are a good place to start, but it really depends on the time of bike...
wheelies on a bmx, are the hardest thing to do, balance point if tricky to find.

Wheelies on mountainbikes are a piece of cake once you get the hang of it, i started to learn by doing stand up wheelies, helped me lift the bike up, then pulling long mountain bike wheelies became second nature to me.

I find the easiest way is to do a little bounce on the front suspension(or tyre) to help lift it into the air,
make sure your in a low gear, and pedal hard, should come straight up, or launch you right off the back, or do nothing at all, timing is the most crucial thing.

Once your comfortable getting it in the air, relax your pedalling, if it starts to drop, pedal harder, if it goes too high, stop pedalling and grab the rear brake, or prepare to bail out.

It's only a pushbike, it don't hurt!

nighttime wheelie clip with all my gear on.
Was a bit ****, but it's the first time i ever tried on his bike...(ignore my gimpy friend too)

Can't comment much for motorbike wheelies, but i'm getting pretty good on my ped.

Taken me a long time to even get the front up, now i can do that i've progressed loads in the last week,
Sit down wheelies to kneeling on seat.

No decent videos though i'm afraid, need to get some sorted out soon.
Once i get my SV i'll give that a go and try to lend my advice

Having a go today on my knee's
as i said, not my best video, first times i've tried that too.
only a standard 125 aswell :)

Soon i'll try to get some decent video's and find somewhere safe to practise ffs.

Sorry, but I disagree with that.

Yes, it's harder to get the wheel up due to the gearing, but yank back on the bars of a BMX & it rises no worries. Balance point is no problem, to the extent of rolling along on the back wheel without peddling at all, until you get so slow you stop. But even when stopped (brakes or otherwise), balancing isn't an issue for a short time.

I used to ride a BMX a lot when I was younger

I'm rubbish at wheelieing motorbike and only marginally better at wheelieing pushbikes. I am, however, quite good at wheelieing wheelchairs. 8)

I can do both, but find the motorbikes easier - for me it is because a motorbike is heavier and therefore less "Lively" and unstable.

A push bike is far easier to bail out of though!

I have perfected the art of wheelying my monocycle.

*Dont try that at home folks!*

Never tried on a motorbike but put your mountain bike in first gear, lean back while rolling along slowly and pedal really fast.

It's easy as pie to lift a BMX, i find it really hard on my BMX to sit and wheelie it....
maybe my cruddy BMX.
Ah well, each to their own i guess.

Got pulled over yesterday for doing a wheelie....
Cops just told me i could fall off, asked if the bike was mine, and called me a ****.
Then they drove off.
Thank **** for that....
I was on a little back road with no traffic around mind, guess they were leniant 8) :)

I'm pretty good at wheelying a pushbike.

I'm scared to practice my motorcycle wheeling as I remember the amount of times I looped it learning how to do it on a push bike.

I can wheely a mountain bike a little way, but used to be able to wheely a motocrosser much further, with one hand, round shallow bends, etc. Picked it up in 2nd or 3rd, kept accelerating and changing up to 6th. Front wheel used to stop spinning, and then there was no gyroscopic effect. Landing it sounded like a plane: loud squeek as the tyre accelerated up to speed! Probably can't do it any more... too old and chicken to try now, and only have the SV650S, which isn't ideal...
