I have a European spec Sony PSP and want to know if Asia spec games will play on it! The US spec games don't, but I have heard that Asian spec games do, any truth in it?

Yes they do, I bought both my PSP's in Singapore, they work fine, they upgrade themselves when you put a new game in.
According to my 12 year old - well you've got to ask those in the know
All PSP games work on all PSP's from anywhere. Only difference cover artwork and age ratings.

Yep...as I said, the console updates itself...the DVD thingies don't all work though.

There CAN be issues on multiplayer where the game versions are from other regions.
ie you cannot multiplayer a US copy of Wipeout Pure with an EU copy.
Have a look at http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk for info on what can be done - or drop me a PM - I have 2 PSP's, both Japanese and games bought in UK, US, NZ and Singapore.
Why 2 - well my black one is a 1.5 firmware with a 4GB MS and the white one is the latest firmware with a 2GB MS - both with extended batteries :)

Correct, the UMD movies ARE region encoded.
But when you can rip your DVD's to PSP MP4 format AND fit all 3 of the LoTR Extended Edition movies on a 2GB MS - who cares :)

What I can say on the subject COULD be regarded as illegal or semi-illegal - it concerns transcoding data from one format to another,
It may be of interest to other forum users, so I ask.
Can I go into details here, or should I PM Stu - the info I am about to give IS freely and readily available on teh intarweb if you know the correct search terms.
Mods, what do you say?
