View Full Version : is pipex any good?
im thinking of changing my isp as i think ill get a btr deal,im currently with tesco@£20 a month for unlimited acess ,iv been with them 2yrs now ,but , is it a lot of hassle to change ,??they all say its very easy but from my exp its never as straightforward as they say.i dont want to b without a connection while they faff about ,im a comp numptie so am not really clued up if things go wrong ,,any comments peeps oh btw i checked the speed and i can get 7meg here ,thats a lot faster than at present
I moved away from Pipex a couple of months ago after being with them for over 2 years. As long as nothing goes wrong Pipex are ok, but their customer services are appalling, it took 43 minutes of being on hold before getting through to someone even though they had asked me to call back at that particular time.
I've changed to Telewest and I have to say, it really was easy. You can either have an engineer come around with the hardware and install everything for you or you can just receive the hardware and it all yourself. I just got the hardware delivered and it took about 2 hours for me to set up the tv, the internet and my wi-fi router to be sorted out. Job done.

kate-good comment ,its the cust service side of things that are important to me ,when i set my existing connection up i had to spend about 40 min on phone while a tecchie from their end talked me through it ,they were free calls to tech support for the first month after that it was 50p a min  pipex have free calls ,but,if ure hanging on for ages its not so good eh

I've been with them for a couple of years & never really had any problems
Any probs tend to be BT playing around with the exchange, and it's usually sorted the next day
They called me a few months ago and offered to upgrade my connection speed for free, but nothing seems to have come of it

Do you already have Sky? You can get broadband for free if you do.

Lucky you lot who have a choice of provider. I live too far away from my local exchange to get any ADSL service. OK I am on cable and get a damm good service from Telewest, but I would always like to have the option of being able to blackmail them by threatening to leave
