Hi,
After passing my test i'm looking for my first bike. I've got around £1500 (can stretch a small bit upwards) to buy my first SV.
As long as there is no major damage (i'm guessing a few scratches should be expected on a bike of this age, but I dont want my first bike to be a wreck),
it's not yellow (my girlfriend doesn't like yellow, and she's lending me the cash)
and theres less that 25k on the clock (i'm planning on commuting around 20k a year so i need a reasonable milage to start with) I'd be very interested.

I like the bike but I was looking for the half faired S version as i'm looking to commute down the motorway. I'm assuming that the little screen on the front, although very cool, wouldn't offer much in the way of wind blast protection tho?

it does offer some wind protection, i find it's fine up to about 90mph

You know you could always respray the bike if the yellow ones are too fast for you

I'd not thought of this as an option, Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to get it professionally re-sprayed? and how long it would take?
These yellow ones are just too fast for me :D

I'm trying to get an insurance quote for your bike with all the mods, hopefully they should get back to me later.
Just a couple of questions, how do the mods effect the bike (i'm curious about that rear swingarm especially), whats the mileage, and roughly where do you live?
Steve
See my sv up for sale, sadly she is yellow but its the darker yellow mate.

Mine's for sale at 1500 mate, more miles than you're looking for but you wouldn't tell by riding it!

Your bike is pretty much the sort of bike I was looking for, the only problem is the millage. I'm looking at doing around 20k a year on it (york to sheffield and back every working day) and i need the bike to last at least a year (hopefully two). with 20-25k on the clock to years leaves me at 60-65k, however with 35k i'm nudging 75k after two years (and i don't know if the sv could last that happily). The only other issue is that end can, although it's nice is it road legal?
At the momment i'm trying to get a quote on dirtydog's bike (although it's not faired it's so hot I want it anyway :D ). If the insurance comes back as too much I many well be interested in yours, as long as someone can give me reassurance that the bike will last to 75k. If the opinion is that it wont last that long i may still be interested, but i'd have to offer only £1000 - £1100 to make it viable. If you need to shift it quick I would buy it for £1000 at any point mate

Whack a topic up in the SV section mate, people will assure you of their reliability. It is a nice end can (well, full system actually :) ), but it's not road legal, no. It does come with the full stock system though mate :) A grand is too low, £1100 would take it I think.

Randyo has an SV that has gone way past that, and apart from consumable's ( chain, sprocket, tyres etc ) I dont think he's had any trouble.
As long as it serviced regularly and looked after then I cant see why you'd have a problem.

Thanks to everyone for the help, i'm now off to see matt's tommoro. Unfortunately the insurance company are away till monday, but hopefully if all goes well I should be the proud owner of an sv very soon.
Again my appologies to dirtydog, I love the bike (and recomend it to anyone else who wants to get an sv) however with cash being very tight at the moment, the saving in buying matts bike has won out.

anyone who's anyone knows by far the best colour for the naked curvy SV's is YELLOW.. the best for the faired versions is Blue.. without doubt this is a FACT..!
as for the new ones.. well Suzuki simply ruined a bloody good looking bike when they gave it the 'LegoLand' treatment, so it's not even worth discussing their colour ..!
