View Full Version : Helmet help!
I bought a Shoei raidII last winter and had it measured at the Shoei stand at the NEC who said that the helmet was a good fit for my head. When i first used it the cheekpads were really snug and i was very pleased with the fit, it didnt wobble at all and i felt like it was squeezing my face nice and tightly. I think ive done about 3000 miles in it this year and it now feels slack and lifts when i turn my head against the wind. Do cheekpads bed in that quickly? I know i can get replacement cheek pads but it seems excessive to have to buy new ones every 3k miles. If i was using the bike as an everyday tool, id have gone through 4 sets by now!

When i bought my Shoei XR1000 i was told that if the cheek pads started to feel slack then to take them out and stick them in a pillow case and then wash them in the washing machine and they would spring back to just like new. Not tried it yet so not sure if it works though.
Not sure if you can take them out on a Raid II hopefully you can but if not washing the inside of the lid with baby shampoo may do the same trick.

I think thats just to stop the little popper stud things getting damaged in the drum, not an essential thing.
