Tailpak or Panniers??

I'm doing a 2 day run with overnight stay and was trying to decide whether to use the tailpak or panniers (wont need both) Will aslo be using tankbag.

What is the experience of the .org, stability / handling issues

The run will be apx 5-600 miles with probably half on twisty A/B roads, and half motorway / town work.

Realise the panniers widen the bike and affect filtering but I tend not to squeeze through tight spaces anyway, is there a downside to the tailpak (other than looks)

Any experience / advice appreciated.

Personally in your case I would Tailpack it.

I am off up to Sheffield tonight and have gone for full-on luggage, Tailpack for clothing, Panniers each holding either my leathers trousers or jacket depending on the side - will be going to work in usual light gear, but changing for the motorway stuff.

Tankbag had my security stuff - D-lock, chain, disklock so not over loaded but I do have a few things to add at work.

Tailpack...all you're gonna need is some clean socks and undercrackers and maybe a pair o' jeans and a t-shirt and maybe even some trainers or comfy shoes :wink:

I found the tailpack better for handling. Panniers I "thought" weightier in the corners (side to side) and was always conscious of them when filtering - tailpack I can forget about and makes for something nice to sit back against as well - although I just bungy net a bag/whatever on.

I have a tailpack and panniers but most of the time I too just bungee net my small rucksack onto the pillion seat. If you net it down firmly it's nice and stable, even at mway speed.
