I've tried and tried but I just can't manage it... do I lift this... duvet thing?
Get somebody to lift it for you? :smt102

I just can see it... even though its in front of me...
crawl to one side and simply fall out...

BUT, if the duvet falls on top of you , your in the same boat

Its probably easier to stay under the duvet and just drag whatever you need closer to you.
Or, didn't Wallace (of ...and Grommit fame) invent a machine to get him out of bed and dressed? YOu could always build one of those.
A pot of coffee does it for me :D

This is a common problem amongst students, I am not immune to it. I have conducted a highly scientific study of the mechanics of duvet covers, and can conclude from the data gathered that duvets are hard to remove due to their excellent heat capacity, ensuring warmth and comfort on a cold morning and their smell (if fresh duvet covers are on) causing us to not want to stray into the polluted, smog-filled outside world (thus increasing your life span...its an evolutionary thing, a survival instinct).
The study also concluded that people who cant get out of bed without extra, external, woman-originated or parent-originated force are lazy bums :D

Roll of the bed whilst still in the duvet.
Then you can move around the house like a giant slug.
You can even go to the corner shop like this as long as you dont have to cross any major roads.

i never lie in always seem to wake up early for some reason (unless i've been out on the lash the night before) it was 8am yesterday and 6.40 today but then i will prob be in bed early tonight as the alarm will go off at 4.45am
but there is nothing like freshly washed duvet covers and sheets for keeping you in bed

Actualy, since my letcures are all at 9am (apart from teusday, 4pm!) I have to get up at 7am. Well, my alarm goes off then, my girlfreind maria gets up then, but i have to psych myself up:
"come on matt, lets go! lets get outta bed! finish this day, and its one more day closer to riding the SV!"
Which normally turns into a dream about breakfast as i fall back to sleep..
Im up by 7:20am though...honest...

Hey! I reckon that's quite impressive considering we went to bed at 9:30.
I may have a slight hangover.

Babe, thanks to you-my keyboard is covered in tea because of this post.

Ahh, the root cause of some of your problems is that you actually need to open your eyes - they're the squishy spherical things that are set in your head and which you probably tried to insert things into (when missing your mouth) as a baby. Now you are older, they are quite possibly now located directly inbetween a severe throbbing pain.
Eyes open? Yes. Then we shall proceed.
Take a good look around you, study your environment well and ensure you are fully aware of each potential tool or aid that you have available. If you think any are lacking, either A) yell for them at everyone who could possibly hear (though not always care) or B) make no further attempt to complete your task.
So, on the freakish offchance you actually have everything that is required to complete this task, we shall proceed.
You now need to evaluate the state of your own personal equipment - is it Nekkid or sporting a Full Fairing? This will have an impact further on in the task.
Let us now take a look at what is restraining you in your current position - the Duvet. Yes - duvet. That thing infront of you.
Yes, that large (hopefully clean) cotton covered, fluffy centered protective covering.
It's called a duvet.
No, not duh-vet. Doo-vay...
... and no, I don't know why it's called that - seriously, it's not relevant - look, just grab it OK.
No, not that - that's a pillow.
The bigger one, yes.
Well done.
Now, do you remember what it is you have? No, don't let go of the Duvet whilst you are thinking...
... so, Nekkid or Full Fairing?
OK then - if Fully Faired then fling your arm out as far as you can - releasing hold of the Duvet at the full extent of your reach.
If Nekkid then hold on tight and draw up to your chin.
OK, now swing your legs to one side - outwards, that's it - then down.
Feet firmly on the floor? Yes, you can squiggle your toes into the carpet. So, is it cold?
If it is you again have two options. Either A) yell as loud as you can for someone, anyone, to turn the heating on for you, or B) just give up now and never again attempt to complete your task.
OK, so it's actually warm - thank heavens for time clocks eh.
Last thing, though again, this has options and could get complicated.
Do you think you are capable of standing?
Yes - good. Now dig back to that primal babyhood mind of yours (so about 2 days ago), remember the actions - go on then. Stand up.
Just don't forget to keep a firm hold of that Duvet if your equipment is Nekkid!
Ahhh...
... right...
... well then.
That's just toppling back into the bed and drawing the Duvet up and shutting you eyes.
So either start reading this all over again or ask someone else.

be careful if you sleep in a sleepingbag, its not to hard to walk/hop around the house but extra care is to be taken on stairs....you can of course sit at the top and slide down...............weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeee!?!?!

i find if u move house and pack it, then forget where u put it, it means u dont have one,
that makes gettind the cover off easier,,,, or impossible depending if the glass is half full or half empty or indedd you dropped the glass because it was in fact full and slippery form the over spill, now theres a predicament.
oooh look its only 1.30 and iv lost it completley!!

This is a common problem amongst students, ...if fresh duvet covers are on
Er, am I the only one that thinks the words "student" and "fresh duvet covers" do not quite sound right in the same paragraph?

At the risk of being contentious; student and fresh. Full stop.
