Ducati have some big financial problems just now so they need somewhere to hang advertising hoardings. Its called income generation. :)
If you dont know, its a holder for soft luggauge, which the name of escapes me. Looks poo when not fited. You have a big bag that foits on it, and it has a longer bar! Still looks crap on a Duc though

And there was me thinking it was some sort of a handle to aid in pushing the bike when it breaks down...

Yup I was trying to think of it too, Ventura (http://www.ventura-bike.com/english/products/pack_system/index.html)
Quite expensive but would of thought you would need a pillion seat to use it properly.
When you don't need to carry luggage why not use the Ventura system to provide some extra peace of mind for your passenger? The Grab-Handle can be slotted and secured into the L-Brackets in seconds providing a sturdy hand hold for your passenger. It looks stylish too!

Super...My eyes,my eyes! To make it even worse it is a single seated 749s like mine! I know at times one must consider the practicalities of life, but not when you own a Ducati as I am sure you agree? :D
