Bike booked in for 7.5 k service on Thursday , now at 8.4k as could not get me in for 2 weeks , checked service manual on site and states that oil filter is changed at 600 miles & then not to 11,000 !
Using thelast of the free service vouchers , however when I service bikes I always change oil & filters at the same time .
I was going to pay for a oil filter and ask them to change it as part of service , what do u recon ? Is it just a habbit I've got used to , or is ok to leave 10 k between filter changes ?

Cheers Steve

I thought it was at 600 then at 7.5k. That's what the K4 manual says - every 7000 miles. A lot of people and garages change it every service/3500 miles though.

Maybe a misprint in the online manual?

change it mate, for all the extra it will cost, especially if you plan on keeping it.

The manual is defo at 11,000 miles and not before.

I used to do to the manual, but now I do at 7,500 miles after I got too use to seeing gunk in the oil!

my oil and filter every 3000mls now done 46000,go to moto serv in kings cross and see kieth one of my best mates.
changing the oil and filter makes a big differance to how the engine will last so just do an oil change in between services.
i have always used rock oil synthsis 4 racing, engine never burns oil

spoke to dealer Motorcycle Mart Kidderminster , when ever they change oil they always change oil filter regardless of mileage.

As my bike is used daily I recon oil / oil filter change every 4k is fine , 4 times a year. My last bike Yamaha fazer 600 , had a 6k intervals & that did 50 k without using oil.
