My bike (K4 pointy) has just gone past 5k miles i've had it since 2k and i dont rag it about everywhere though i do drive it every day. I let it warm up before i set off (most fo the time). Recently its started had a few problems.

Some of the time when its been used and warm and i've blipped the throttle at low speed in first its misfired/made a low hollow sound, thats only very occasionally not done it for a few weeks.

However last week i got up for work late after a party :? i didn't have time to warm it and just set off straight away. I blipped the throttle by accident coming up to a slow turn and it cut out. Only problem is that it wouldn't start up again. After a few short goes and nothing i gave it a long start (about 5 seconds) and it managed it and was fine there after, hasn't done anything like it since...

My dad said its the plugs but it has been serviced very recently so they "should" be ok.

Is it about to fall apart or was it just a isolated incident?

Mine (last 2 I had) made the hollow sound if I blipped the throttle too quickly....not often but a couple of times.

As for the warming up thing - so long as you didn't 'race' off, am sure it wouldn't have caused any problems, I never let my curvy warm up anymore.

So long as the temp gauge on my pointy says something other than "--", I'll set off. No issues yet.

I have had a little cough starting her this morning. But I'm putting that down to the cold, and it was nothing to worry about.

No idea about your situation, but so long as you're not riding before the temp gauge tells you it's reading something, you should be fine.

i had this was the coil to the back pot

ran on and off for a while i'd put it down to crap fuel from dodgie woolie back petrol station

the smell i had was the cat in the can cooking to a white hot state due to the miss fire
if it is this its not to bad

k5 650s £29 squid dealer part or £10 off ebay

and now the cats fecked bike runs way better more responsive and seems to breath better

I had the same problem with my K4 - sometimes when rolling off the throttle, sometimes when opening it up to pull away - it would cut out, and be a bugger to restart.

I was told the restart issue was probably due to a dodgy regulator. I don't have the problem now......my battery has died, so it won't start at all

Jo -> who has to get a new battery at some point, then she can leave the car at home.
