View Full Version : Race Number
Valentino is 46, Nicky Hayden (and Jim Whitham) are/where 69, our lord and saviour, Bazza was and always will be "7", but if you raced (I know some peeps on here do actually race, but this is mainly aimed at those of us that just dream about it) what would your number be (and why) ?
I'd be 99, I can hear James Whitham (In my dreams) shouting "stick a flake in that" as I come from dead last to win World Superbikes on the last corner of the last race !

Me and the girlfriend have been trying to outdo each other for the last 10 years to use that number. We've bought number plates, registered websites, booked hotel rooms, its become a sport.
There is a reason for the number, you have to think back before mobile phones

My race number would be #1.
Cos I'd win everything :D
Ok, maybe not....errrrr....I'd say 26 because thats my birthday, but Evil Pedrosa has that...maybe number 20, since thats the age I passed my motorcycle test, or 127, since the 12/7 is the day I passed my test.
Or, I could be dead boring and use a scientific constant, avogadro's number:
6.022 x 10^23
Since that number is something I use all the time.

69 has to be the coolest ... not only is there the reference to ... well u know ;)
But it looks the same upside down!! I wonder if that is the reason our Mr Whitham chose it?!!

The trouble with 69 is that it's a bit of a mouthful!
Two little ducks, 22 for me!

I think I read that Hayden uses it because it looks the same upside down, and his dad used to race that number.
I suspect that Whitham chose it for its other significance

I'm sure it's the same reason :)
Back when mobile phones were the size of bricks and only for the yuppies to yell 'buy, buy, sell sell' into, we used to communicate with radio pagers. Drop 20p in a phone box, dial the pager bureau, and type in the number you want displayed on the pager. (number only pagers - available from Argos!).
We got extremely good at sending and decoding whole sentences, just represented by the number of letters in the word. The forerunner of text speak..
as most of you have guessed, 143 was I love you.

I got it!!!! My number would be 12!!! Significant things always seem to occur in my life on the 12th!!! Sometimes good (passing my CBT and my full motorcycle test) and soetimes bad (my best mate dying)
Either way, something dramatic happens to me where the number 12 is concerned....
