Hey all. As some of you know, I sold my SV a while ago because one of my mates passed away on his bike, didnt want the parents/girlfriend worrying etc etc. Been looking for one of these for a while, got this one for a steal of a price, doesn't need too much to make it mint. It's a handling machine lol, I can't believe how fast it is for a 1.6.

Nooooooooooooooo not a car!!!!!
Sorry to hear your mate passed away though, its often enough to put people off bikes. Do you think you'll ever go back to two wheels? Even if its track-days only?
Matt
sad to hear about your mate..i guess it makes you think when it happens so close to home, my mother always worries when i go out on the bike too
perhaps, take a bit of time out see how you feel next summer :?

Might be the weather at the moment, but I'm really not missing it at all. I don't think I'll be off them forever, but definately for a few years.
Sorry to hear about your mate :(
That looks a nice little CRX, always fancied one of those myself, the VTEC engines really fly when you get 'em revving.
THere used to be a CRX one make series (probably still is), think it used to be one of the support series for British Touring Cars years ago.

I like those... They do seem to attract a certain sort of driver though ;) Looks very clean, with it's teeny tiny wheels and all.

I drove it back from Surrey for Matt and it's a wee belter. Hit 5k revs in 2nd or 3rd and whahay, in comes the VTEC ! . Good fun.
C'mon Northy - let's see yer design for an SV VTEC mod :P

We don't need it, we already have midrange :)
I really like the CRX too - there aint that many around any more
Get is slammed with some big rims and it will look excellent. Always liked those.

A major point in its favour I'd have thought :D
Nice car indeed - enjoy it

What's "need" got to do with anything? It'd be fun!

Yeah to true... Who needs 100bhp plus on a bike ??? But it's fun.... I don't need a chip upgrade on my ST either, but it's coming
Petrol heads have fun on wheels

used to have a 4th gen Prelude 2.2 VTEC. Brilliant car if somewhat of an iffy image. Took it on a track day at the now infamous Elvington Air Strip with the Honda R club. Lots of C-rexes on that day and Integra Type R. Total drivers cars...I like it!

Why? It'll just look like every other chav car then. Better to get some sticky rubber for the wheels he has allready and learn how to drive fast.
Lowered cars and big rims are only good for doing 15mph along soufend seafront then fitting a dustbin for and exhaust for that extra 1hp and adding 400kg's of stereo.

Yep, big wheels only help with ruining the ride and in some cases slow acceleration.
Seems to be a fad for the manufacturers as well now. A few years back the optimum size
for even fairly high performance hatches like the Sunny GTR etc was 15"
Guess fashion dictates everything now.

Big fat whatever.
Thank you

Well I have no complaints running 18's on the Focus, although the turning circle is pants. Yes they may generate a little more road noise, but larger wheels mean that you will have a bigger piece of rubber gripping the surface. Lowered suspension reduces body role (if done properly) and improves the handling.
Now't wrong with big wheels and lowering your springs....

Jelster, you forgot to mention lower profile tyres in cars, although giving out a harsher ride, provide more control over steering (less tyre wall to deform "without" control).
Steve, do you really think Ferrari / Lamborghini / Aston Martin / Porsche would be putting 18" or 19" wheels in their cars just to chav them up?

Filipe, I agree up to a point.
However, on a standard Hot Hatch, Big Wheels and Low Profile tyres just affect the ride and are
noisy. Furthermore, if you were to race identical, lets say Hotish superminis, at a drag strip one
on 15" rims and one on 18" (Bling 8) ) rims. The one on the smaller wheels will invariably post
slightly quicker times.

I don't commute on a drag strip, unfortunately... well, ok, some days it looks like one!

Race on a drag strip ??? But there's no bends on a drag strip..... What's that about ???
You need bends to have fun... Twisty roads and hot hatches (and bikes) go together. Unfortunately, in most cases, the cars a far better than the drivers
