I noticed today that if I turn my forks all the way to the left they dont stop til they hit the frame, whereas if I turn them to the right something stops them just before although I dont know what. is this normal? I only ask because my bike was a theft recovery and was missing alot of pieces and probably treated like crap. thanks!
Sounds like the lock stop may be missing on the bottom yoke!

yup sounds like a snapped stop
not 100% sure but think its and mot fail now
What model SV is it? Check the bottom yoke to see if anything has snapped off.
would you get away with welding a "blob" on yhe yolk?

on the pointy model its a part of the casting on the bottom yoke, same each side.
on the pointy model its a part of the casting on the bottom yoke, same each side.
Same on the curvey, the diffrence you should note is that on the curvey the lockstops meet up at the front of the headstock while on the pointy they stop at two points on the frame.
So on the curvey you are more likley to damage the stop on the headstock and snap it off, rather than on the yokes, but on the pointys the stops on the bottom yoke will snap off if enough force is put on them.
You can get either ally wealded, but has to be someone good.

I've got a brand new bottom yoke for a curvy model available.
Still in the Suzuki packaging, etc.

its an 02, after you guys said that I found that a square chunk is missing out of the neck of the frame not one of the two stops on the yoke. I think I might epoxy a peice of rubber to the frame where the fork hits, any other ideas? I do have an arch welder, but the frame is aluminum and im not especially handy with it...
Take it to a proper person to get it wealded, epoxy will not hold up.
