Was bought this for my birthday from r lass, which isn't actually until 22nd of this month, but I stole it early

Graphics are quality, bikes are really realistic, right down to the little details. I was well impressed to see they've got some of the 250 strokers in there alongside the standard IL4 sports bikes that you'd expect. Plenty of old school bikes too! You even get that cloud of smoke from the 2-stroke bikes when you pull away.

The replays after the racing are awesome too. Tried to find some on internet, but failed. I found the game really hard to master, unlike car racing games. Plenty of involvement with the fact you can vary how much you lean the bike, and vary the amount of throttle applied, which you need to do as it's quite easy to get it all wrong and highside the bikes.

Call me sad, but gives me something to do while the weather is too pap to justify going for any social rides. I'd recommend it, get it on your Christmas wish-list

Even tho' you get "100%" on your status screen the game still is NOT complete. To complete fully, ie get ALL bikes (not just different colours) you need to get Gold medals in the license section. You will get a couple of extra bikes plus a stack of riding gear.

Some yoshi tuned thing(1135cc, Katana?) and an NR750. 8)

This is far from easy and i can see some controllers getting embedded in the wall

SV is a shameful omission, too many bastid scooters.

it would have been too fast for the ps2 to run it in all fairness ;)

I think i've nearly got all golds! I got three lisences, just the second lisence to get gold on now (special was easy!).

The NR750 in the game is a sweet sweet bike, I have a pic some place from Grand Vally

Comparing the two together (meaning tourist trophy and superbike riding challenge) theres not 1 better than the other really, the graphics i feel on tourist trophy are better and more of a range of bikes(other than the voxan which i love on superbike:D). But the way you can make your rider attributes better on superbikes riding challenge is very good. Overall i would rather play tourist trophy but not by far. They both beat the ps2 versions of the Moto GP series. But never will they beat Isle Of Mann TT Superbikes.

I haven't played the TT to make any comparisons but in SRC the way the bike moves and protests when on the limit is top notch, manages to scare me almost as if I was really riding.

Only been playing that and Ace Combat: The Belkan War latley. Top games.

And Red Steel on the Wii

This game is by far the best bike game ever made. Well of course it is, afterall it's made by the people that created the best driving games as well (Polyphony and the GT series). The graphics are mind blowing (considering it's last gen) and the handling is quite realistic too. You can also take pics from races and save thm onto a SD card which is kinda cool................look I can do wheelies and stoppies (only in games though!).

Alas

You can race against more than one bike I think, haven't played it in a while but I do seem to remember it being possible to race more than one other bike.

Yeah in Challenge mode you race against 1 bike to win the bike in the challenge (hence the name) but in the Race series you race upto 6 or 7 other bikes I think (certainly more than 1).

I love the 2-stroke bikes, especially the TZ125 and 250's. They're immense, and handing on them is rediculously quick.

The 1000cc monsters that you get blessed with for winning certain series' (ie the race modded ZX10 / Blade etc) are good fun too, although are a nightmare to control as they're so quick!

I think we should organize a time trial sorta thing around the ring between those who have tourist trophy :D. We pick a bike and state our best times. Someone starts a new topic ie. Ring Times: Tourist Trophy!

Any1 else in?

Awesome idea!! I quite like the Suzuka set of tracks, there’s 3 of them so could keep them in one topic, submit a time for East, West and the full circuit? Could run it in classes too, so you could have a 125, 250/400, 600 etc?

Jase22
29-01-07, 05:37 PM
It's a good point.

I'd suggest that automatic is allowed, it's slower than riding with the manual transmission anyway. Presume you can leave the "racing line" on also? Guess it would be there in "real life" anyway?

I reckon Hovi5 can put the thread together anyway, could be something more constructive to do than random postings...

hovis

Jase22
29-01-07, 05:42 PM
racing line???

The bit of the road that's a bit darker like where it's got rubber stuck to it, it can be turned off I think.

Alas
29-01-07, 05:54 PM
I also thought if it should be with the pro setting on the controller. It's a bit more difficult without the traction control, or what-it's-called. Plus to separate the brakes also makes it more difficult.

Otherwise I think it's best to use one bike, and one track, at a time at least.

Just some more thoughts

Isaac got this for christmas. seems to think that one day his stable and license will magically materialise into reality and he'll be king of the road

OK.

How's about a bit of a test to see if it works. Let's pick Trial Mountain, and any 400cc 4-stroke bike (given they're all there or there abouts for power) and post times on this thread to see how it goes.

Specifying both the time and the bike ridden. Let's not get bogged down with all the nitty gritty of controls just yet, it should give novices a bit of a chance. If you ride with pro set ups, it can be assumed that you're fairly $hit hot on the game so will be quicker than someone with standard set up anyway.

If it doesn't work then we can look into specifics then eh? Obviously, no point in lying as it'll get you nowhere.

People up for that? I reckon I can have a go this evening.

Righto, managed to get me some gaming time last night (much to the disgust of the missus!!!) and in the actual "Tourist Trophy" mode (as opposed to arcade) I posted the following results using the "time trial" function. Seemed the most appropriate (and easiest way) to me.

Honda VFR400R Race Modified '89 1'40.166

Yamaha FZR400 Race Modified '86 1'40.031

I'm on standard control settings.

I disagree with using the Nurburgring, I've not got the time or patience to do several laps around there, I reckon some nice short tracks would be best. I'm starting off with the Suzuka tracks, 3 nice short(ish) tracks and plenty of testing course, mods should be ok with it it's only like half the other idle banter in this section aint it?

The race thread now exists, we're using the Suzuka series. 1 post per person only in the thread, which you'll put your times up and then when you want to update the times you edit the post.

Hopefully it'll work ok:

Try braking a little earlier before corners, and firing it out early. Look where you want to go and be patient; the times will tumble 8)

If it puts you to the top of the times, no

Seriously though, not played it so wouldn't know how it compares for difficulty? Also, if the gp 250's are about in the same league for power as the TZ (c. 90hp) on Tourist Trophy, may have to reject you on the basis that the TZ isn't allowed in the leagues.

How easy is it to adapt to the "pro" controls and MT, I think the traction control and what not might be holding back my times?

Also, how do you switch off all those bits, specially that gear indicator that flashes what gear you should be in as I find myself watching that rather than the road too often?

Ciarán
31-01-07, 03:17 PM
Can we do this for Superbikes riding challange too?
I'm a bit adept at it :P

Even got a cheesy stunt video i shot ages ago.
Can 12 the bikes all day now though 8)

Jase; I think somewhere in the options you can change it. I cant remember but its prob in the controls section. TBH having it pro dosnt make it much better, although you have to be carefull about applying full throttle as you just spin the rear wheel. Having independant brakes is usefull though.

I'm winning 8)

Beat that time on the East circuit!!! I had automatic gears though, but after some careful tweaking of gear ratios it made quite a bit of difference to help me keep in the gear I wanted to be in on some of the corners. That lap was certainly a flyer, my next best time to that was just over 56 secs.

Just spied that the TT's only £15 now at HMV. Absolute bargain (although can't help but feel a little annoyed that I paid about double that!!!)

If you've not got it, get it bought and see if you can get your name on the leaderboard!!!
