Picked it up last week, still getting used to it (bit different from the Honda CBR's, VTR, and VFR I've owned in the past):

nice! how are you finding it so far in comparisson to your other bikes? that blue looks so much better outside. i hated both the blues in the showroom, but outdoors the natural light makes such a difference! (i ended up getting the silver/blue:D )

I like the colour - it's very eye-catching.

Oh yeah, bike's pretty good too. Nice 'n' shiny :D Is the can slightly flared? Looks a bit different to a UK standard can, can't quite make it out.

You taking the warning stickers off?

The muffler is a straight can, no flair. As to the stickers, yes, I'll probably peel them off. I don't think I'm going to polish out the frame though, just leave it black.

Riding impressions:

Power band seems to start at 5500rpm. Anything below that and the bike hesitates a bit when rolling on the throttle. Bit of a change from the others I've owned (except for the VTR250..which needed to be spinning about 6000rpm before doing anything.)

Suspension...way too soft to suit my tastes. Need to start looking at new fork springs at the very least. I've run the preload on the stockers way up and it still feels too spongy. I guess I want it to feel like my old race bikes..think "turn" and it does it.

Otherwise, not bad for the money. Did a nice little 50 miler yesterday morning to one of my customers. No issues. BTW, the tank bag in the photo isn't the tank bag I run with, it just happened to be the one I grabbed before going to the dealer. I've already swapped the bigger RKA bag I usually run (which has longer straps so it sits a little more on top of the fuel tank.)

Right shape, right colour. What can I say? You have good taste ;)

About the hesitation below 5500rpm, take a look at the TPS adjustment, that'll solve really low snatching and is VERY worth doing IMO.

A few months later....

Made a few changes to the motorcycle:

Changed the saddle (Corbin, sit a little lower and doesn't have the ridges right at the inseam),
Cleaned up the tail and flush mounted the turn signals (Hot Bodies tail kit..no more hitting the turn signals when swinging a leg over the bike),
raised the clip-ons (Heli bars..changed the riding position to a little more upright),
changed out the brake lines to braided stainless (Goodridge, bled to an inch of their lives),
did the TPS adjustment (very handy change to the bike),
installed a K&N air filter,
Did the oil change and checked the valves.

...and finally removed every orange safety placard from the bike.

Put a few hundred miles on it, took it on one day-trip ride around central Florida. All-in-all it is shaping rather nicely. It's comfy enough to start doing 200 mile weekend trips.

Not a chance. That old RKA tank bag has been in service since 1989...back in the days when you could call Rich and Kathy directly to order one.

Nice SV! I like the black frame + blue paint combo.

I think it needs fairing lowers, or at least a belly pan, to make it look finished; although this is mearly my personal preferance for SV's :D

Safe riding!
