Rich.. there are cleaning products where all you have to do is gently hose the bike.. spray stuff on.. leave it for a while.. and spray off... if need be, use a sponge to get the more stuborn stuff off... and it bloody well works  bought some of it on saturday.. and then some silicone cleaner to finish the job off (dont get it on tyres or brakes ;) ) my bike is now a bit cleaner than normal.... the silicone cleaner also acts as a back to black stuff for your plastics as well... leaves a very good shine afterwards as well 8)

Don't think anything fell off, buy I was only doing it by garage light, so don't really know what the other side looks like!
As for the special occasion, no not selling it need to replace the chain as its properly worn  . So to make things a little easier I decided to give it a little clean. Actually forgot that I have silver wheels
Only took me half an hour, used spray paraffin to start with to remove the inch thick crud from the swing arm, wheels and hugger. Followed by lots of buckets of water, some spray on gunk, more water, more gunk, then a little more water.
Its all sparkly now :!:
So it's a lot lighter now then as well

I don't think those would help!!
As for braided hoses you do not need them to stoppie the SV. I have a standard set up and have no problem doing them provided the tyre and brakes are up to temp, just ask Strechie, I even performed this little trick with him on the back!
I would also not recommend attempting to learn them in this weather as you will need a dry road or you will just lock the front, and that ain't pretty.
@Law: was waiting for someone to post that  . Unfortunately me cameras knackered and its got dirty again already. Oh well maybe next year!!!

have you not heard of breaded hoses? hovis are the best
i have tried a few times but wimp out a bit.as there is a lot of weight on the forks, headstock etc(what do you think about that?)

True that does put a lot of weight through the head stock, but it should be built to last.
Its like wheeling, done correctly and it won't add much wear to anything; for example headstock bearings, wheel bearings etc. But keep thumping it down and it will start to cause a problem.
I'm not great at them, as I still can't do full on rolling stoppies, but I can still have some fun. Took my time to learn it, the first thing I did was learn how to lock and release the front wheel, which has saved me a couple of times (in situations other than stoppies) and progressed from there. Once you get the hang of it its easy, though as a word of warning landing an 11 o'clock hurts
.. cant do burn outs either
