Do it up over the winter from fleabay parts ?

Or break her down and fleabay the parts yourself?

Or call it "Bike Meets Van" and call it a piece of performance art, sell it for millions (I will let you use the GIMPed image of the van door for a percentage :) )

David

EDIT: oops just noticed this is a poll. :)

Breaking it would be the sensible one as whenever you would have to sell it (as is or repaired) you would need to declare it as having been written off which in turn could be problematic for insurance. This is assuming that they are writing it off.

Keep it as a standard of shineyness(sp) too which your sv1000 and everyone elses bike should maintain theirs too

es it have any bends in the forks and/or frame? Looks like the Right Hand Side fork (if veiwing from the front) may be a little bent?

If there's nothing serious, get it fixed i say. Maybe it can be used as a track bike?

Fighter it with some Renthal bars and a headlight.

Or track it

Have you got any spare cash ?

GSXR Front end conversion, race plastics, you have yourself a bitchin track bike IMHO.

Depends on the state of the frame though. I bet with some shopping around over a few months you could find what you need cheaply enough.

So you liked your original bike, and you can repair it fairly easily, and you have a spare in the garage. So you bought a thou? :?

I would have just repaired it and saved the cash.

What write-off category did it get? If it is a D then it is worth your while fixing it up and then selling it on. If it is one of the more serious categories then getting it back on the road is a bit more of a pain, might force you the break-up route.

good enuf reason to buy one wasnt it  the old sv wouldnt feel the same fixed up.

As I mentioned in an earlier post and as someone else said...fix it up with race bodywork and the likes off fleabay and then use it as a track machine in the summer  Otherwise, I'll give ya £500 for it and use it as a track bike :D

both cat c & d can go back on the road, so no worries with going that route,,,

personally, id fix it up, less than £500 and you would have a bike worth 1500£?? possibbly more, break it and you might make £700?

weigh up the hassle too, theres a loto fixing to do, and the iccle broken bits that u need that you can only get from suzuki will soon mount up..

Break it for spares, or sell it for someone else to repair.

BUT IT NOT RECORDED.
Sorry but shirley it's not cat D or C as no ins. co is ever going to pay out on it so you MUST repair it and sell it hpi clear.

Please make a good job repairing it

Caveat Emptor

edit:My understanding may be wrong if you get your £2700 that the WVM ins. will w/o please correct me if wrong. I don't mean to suggest that you won't be paid out.

Category B - Vehicle may not be returned to road. Parts may be sold.
Category C - Repairable. Possibly structural damage. Cost of damage (at dealer prices and labour rates) is more than book value of vehicle.
Category D - Repairable. Probably non-structural damage. May have been economic to repair, but insurer doesn't want to.

doesn't look that bad to me

dunno about the ins? wvm insurance may have to pay out on it yet but if they dont wont the assessor report it as cat c like he put in his report? friend of mine said that as soon as he files the report its register'd. does it have to be paid out on first?

shouldnt be too hard to replace the fork legs and make it naked, the only real cost would be the speedo clock and a front wheel if needed.

Forks £150 ??
Second hand fairing £100
Front wheel £150 ??

So about £545 there to put it back on the road. Oh plus you need a headlight

My K3 had bent forks, busted headlight, busted fairing, busted rad, busted front wheel and in trying to get it back together for a track day which was previously booked cost me about £800. You also get free lessons in how your bike goes together, it is worth while just for that. I would not have even ventured taking the bike to bits prior to this accident. Out of that £800 I have left to resell a spare right rear plastics, a rear wheel and set of Dunlop(?) racing wets tyres.

If I was you keep it and repair it. Ask yourself would you take your sv1000 on the track? No, as you'd be scared to crash your new pride and joy, so take the repaired SV650 its the best fun you will ever have.

Oi, some of us Somerset folk are a little offended by this! I was born here and I turned out perfectly normal thank you very much... :smt045

Mind you, have you ever been to Bridgwater? I suppose for that place alone, your comments stand! :smt077
