I'll probably be about 1000 sheep road at somepoint.. if you see a green bike going like the clappers... it aint me... gotta spend my birthday doing something.. may as well be surrounded by 1000 sheep ;)

I aint gone yet.. though my departure is soon, preferably with front wheel in the air...

Ohh.. forot to say.. the good news about 1000 sheep is..... the sheep are ALL gone.... clear roads.. though VERY cold up that part of the Beacons at this time of year...

I also think I have an inkling of whats wrong with my bike as well.... the last oil change I did was semi-synthetic... every other oil change Ive used has been fully synthetic.... I put some additive stuff in the oil yesterday thats supposed to unclogg the valves etc and stop them making a noise (didnt work! lol) buuuuuuttttttttttt...... the bikes moving around a bit more free than usual.. to the point I almost went into the back of a van as I was expecting the engine braking to slow me down quicker

though now Ive ordered £80 worth of stuff for replacing the valves (oil seals and gasket), not including £30 for a valve spring compressor... so the engines coming out by the end of the month regardess...

cant be as chilly as when I went up there in January/February earlier in the year.... average of -2 C that day... waterfalls by the burger van all frozen... sad thing is, bikes make a bit more power when the air is colder... pitty you cant use it due to crappy roads..

Yup, but the view is clearer and shadows longer so might take some snaps. Will have to be a tad more careful of the right grip though

Where are you going? What have I missed?

I have posted my resignation to the site.... though tempted to just take a month or two off instead... though I will enforce it this time by pain of death...

as soon as I felt like crap, and posted I was buggering off.. things picked up a tad... Ive decided its simply not worth winding myself up for anymore, however much it hurts.

though I have decided that there is a possibility of me having a life outside of the internet... even though its taken me two years to figure out that one... and plenty of ill feelings to boot  and it may be a crappy life.. though its something other than biking or drinking.. and may involve working 7 days a week.. though extra funds would be available for mode of transport...

hehehe, Im sure some of the lads on here will vouch about when I took them Llandovery way.. the twistiest parts of the day were rather hair raising, as the sun was so low, it was getting in peoples eyes... I had foreseen this, and made use of my black visor... hence scooting off into the distance and waiting at the top of the black mountains.. ahhh.. that day should be remembered by Stretchie especialy... he got ermm caught testing the speed limits on his bike much earlier that day...

Err... oddly yes, they fitted a water scale reducer thing for a few hundred quid to err.... prevent heat exchanger failure.. Oh well, been over the supermarket to get some big plastic jugs (ooerr missus) so I can heat water in the microwave as well as the kettle, and hob. Time for a beer. Oh and had to go out and buy an electric heater, to try and stop the pipes freezing.... sweet. :?

What a week, got hit by a car on Thursday, (no damage to the bike fortunately), expensive digital SLR died and now this. Maybe I should stay in doors tomorrow.

As my sword fighting instructor said "Eat lots of Chinese food, it means you'll bleed less".

Apparently something to do with something used a lot in Chinese cookery (I want to say MSG but I'm not really that sure), so its not as unhealthy as you think, plus it tastes great!

As for the McDonalds; hang your head in shame.

plus as soon as my parts arrive.. I will be taking my bike appart for a clean  the valves have a bit of carbon on them, so will take the engine appart and autosol the moving parts  as well as give the camshafts a good clean as well... :P

Have fun mate, wanna see pix of the bits all shiny. Careful with the autosol, it's a very fine grinding paste, don't use it on the journals and use a vlave lapping tool and grinding paste once the valves are nice and clean or they will burn out in no time.

I dont really plan on autosoling the innards ;)

I am replacing all the valves and moving gubbins in the head... if they need to be replaced that is, as Im not replacing them for the heck of it.. as I will need to lap 16 valves in otherwise  but dont own half the tools I need.. especialy the ones you mentioned
BUT, the oil seals will be replaced, as well as the springs and lifters,
I was told to check the clearances on the camshaft journals, as this may be a cause of my engine braking problem so I am told... but am unsure as to how I go about this as I cant use feeler gauges incase it scratches something it shouldnt
other than that, the previous owner may have fitted a slipper clutch on the bike and its adjusted itself.. will find that out when I open some of it up... I will not be splitting the crank case, only taking off the head and replacing the parts in there.. camshafts will be replaced as I have had the ones I got off e-bay checked and appear to be in very good condition... decided to let a few things go, and only get the bits I know I can do myself done... will get the compresion test etc done at a later date. Dont want to over complicate matters for now...

and from my readings of the workshop manual, most of anything I want checking and if need be replaced can be done without splitting the crank case... unless I kill a few gears ala Stretchie

p.s. Now I have threatened to open up my bikes engine by ordering most of the parts I need.. the ticking noise the bike has ben making for the past 6 months has now vanished as of today :? after the bike warmed up and had a little run, it was starting very faintly to make a come back... but this was the first time I have heard my bike without it rattling for a very very long time.... too late now, Ive ordered the parts

VB, the valve lapping tool used to be as cheap as chips from almost anywhere, try halfords. Having said that I can't say that I've seen a huge amount recently. Easy to make though, get some blue tack and new pencil. Seriousely though mate you have to lap the valves in or they are toast really quick. I can help if you get stuck. Get some valve grinding paste though. Halfords used to do it a while back.

No problem Doc, twas just a thought. The who's out is at least every week but I agree that attention should not be taken away from the bigger rideouts like the Ancients or Porlock.

My Saturday got ruinned with a busted boiler, would have been good to get out but had to wait in for the plumber to turn up, spend an hour taking it apart and then telling me it's knackered till Wednesday (today) when some cheese will come out and fix it. (I hope).

Went for a short blat on Sunday though with Triumphumphumph, spur of the moment, only out a short time really.

Dunno about Saturday yet, an old buddy from the Midlands picks up his SV then so might be heading in that direction, will decide nearer the time.

I see what you mean now. Like an ongoing thread. Sorry, misintepreted you. Perhaps an idea then. But what happens about other rides, separate threads for them?

IMHO leave it as it is now. Stickied threads for organised planned in advanced rideouts. Then non stickied threads for the "is anybody out this weekend" type of meets / rideouts.

Kids this weekend, did go out sunday though...spur of the moment thing, went to foxies diner (mahoosive bacon butties  ) near abingdon, probably 150/200 bikes up there, then off to Reading through some nice twitie sweepy roads, back through newbury, hungerford n avebury, all in all about a 100 mile jaunt, if i plan on doing it again i'll post something up.

Only thing that spoiled it was some :toss: on a R1 who thought it would be fun to keep over taking us on his back wheel doing over a ton into on coming traffic.

A right berkshire hunt if you ask me.
