Brings back memories of the full M4 system mated to a renegade can I had on mind, just that little bit different to any other, sweet.
Enjoy it, big sound for a middle weight bike.
Cheers Mark.

Although the SVs have a rep of being a girls bike (probably because they don't have 1000cc written on them or any RRRRRRRs in their name ;)), I think a V-twin on an open pipe is very 'manley' 8)
But to be fair this geeza has a Land Rover ... lets face it .... I am not sure his is really 'down with it' .... ;) :D

My old man has had my SV in bits in his workshop for the past few weeks, recently put back together. He says lots of people have said nothing but positive comments, along the lines of:
"thats a good bike! how much? blimey! thats cheap!"
"thats your son's bike is it? its bloody good"
and my dad:
"You wont be upset with the bike matt, its really good, even restricted. you'll be happy with that"
From a guy who owns a new GSXR750, previously owned a GSXR600 and old (1992) gsxr750. If he;s happy, im fookin' estatic. 3 weeks and i can ride the bloody thing!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

i hated 4x4s... till i bought one  this one had a 3.5l v8 petrol....with open pipes!
it was a '76 "hang over" (we changed the lettering on the back ;) ) that i lived in for months, used to hammer it offroad, through rivers, everywhere with that engine purrring :D i can see the bike/landie relationship :)

Now, nobody get me wrong. I love the SV(I've had three now and may even be getting a fourth-curvy preferably or even P*inty).
As for the first guy i'm sat here thinking he needs to go to Specsaver. How anyony can look at the SV and say "it's a blokes' bike" is beyound me :? . Either that or he was telling little porkies for whatever reason  . The SV is and doesn't look like a blokes's bike. It's a Girly bike, good newbie bike blah- Period. :P
Regards second comment . Common....!, any SV sounds fruity to many people/bikers? including me funnyly enough even though *ahem* quite like the SV on standard can(especially when motoring).
...but of course if the comments make you love the SV even more , that's not a bad thing
Cheers
Ben
ps: people, don't forget I really lurve my SVs :D

The IL4 riders were just crap so that doesn't change the fact.
If you(the IL4 riders) can't ride your way out of a wet paper bag, even 2000cc ain't gonna make a difference 8)

Ben, I really don’t think the SV looks like a girls bike … but then I am not sure what a girls bike looks like? … perhaps something dainty with pink tassels off the handlebars?!!? The V-twins with pipe sounds beefy, like a WW2 bomber … again not feminine.
I also don’t think the SV is the best learner bike and I really don’t know where it gets that reputation? Anyone that has ever ridden or owned one (and has ridden enough bikes to make a valid comparison) would know they are not the easiest bike to ride.
Like I said before I think it is considered a girls bike and a learner bike as it doesn’t have a 4 figure number printed on the side or R’s in its model name ;)
Can’t disagree about the yella mind

Ha ha... never said girls bike now did I :smt075
Bluey, hope the shoulder is healing great  . Well I'm sure it's the shoulderblade you did damage to, right? :)
Tassels off the handlebars? No as that would be more like puffy. I guess newbies etc would call it dainty. Cute is one one that always seems to come up and that's just from the women . (talking about the SV here  ).
I don't know. It does sound beefy as puny beefy goes but we all know, if it doesn't sound well beefy it really doesn't count. Ducati 749, SV1000, SP1, firestorm etc. Now you are talking proper beefy.
Anyhoos, you are giving a giving a bro a hardtime :? .

Your right, I am putting words into your mouth, but just read this line that way "How anyony can look at the SV and say "it's a blokes' bike" is beyound me " ... You were obviously trying to say it was unisex, not a girls bike as I first interpreted ... ;)
Now the swelling has gone down I realise I have a shard/spiky bit on the end of the bone sticking out under the skin ... hurts like hell :D
Women think pigs are cute ... 'nuf said!?! ;)

Blimey Blue! - for once  I totally agree with you (apart from the last comment of course  )
Ive ridden vtwins and an IL4 - which was a piece of p**s (apart from being too heavy for me) :) The Guzzi was like walking on egg shells with the shaft drive AND the engine torque - the back stepped out everytime I changed gear on that for the first few hundred miles, when I was getting used to it!! The SV is better cos it doesnt have the shaft drive but still definately not a beginners bike IMO because of the engine torque. :riding:

So why do people insist they are a learners bike? or indeed a girls bike (making the presumption there that to be a girls bike it must be easy to ride ... coz girls are numpties and generally useless when it comes to that sort of stuff ;) ... oh come on ... like you can reverse park your car properly?!?!) .... the SV is a top heavy old lump too (the SVS in particular), so again our stereotypical ikle weak girl might struggle with the weight. :?
ahhh yes ... it is people going on the badge, what they think/have heard rather than what they have tried/know!! ;)

So why do people insist they are a learners bike? or indeed a girls bike
Ive no idea :? - If the reason is based on ease of ride/weight etc surely all girls would stick to a much smaller bike like a 125 or an ER5 if they wanted more power (thats why they tend to often use them for DAS). The torque on an SV makes it a less forgiving ride which means you have to deliver the power more carefully and smoothly (not ideal for beginners surely :? ).
(making the presumption there that to be a girls bike it must be easy to ride ... coz girls are numpties and generally useless when it comes to that sort of stuff ;) ... oh come on ... like you can reverse park your car properly?!?!)
Oh yeah? Cheek!  I challenge you anytime to a highspeed car reverse anyday!!! At the stables where I kept my horse at for 5 years, the access road was a one track lane with no passing places. Almost everyday I would end up head to head with someone coming the other way - I was always the one quickest to slam it in reverse and go flat out backwards several hundred yards steering with one hand and the other arm casually slung over the back ot the seat, back to the end of the lane - everytime I would stop at the end and turn round waiting for them - they would still be putting their car in gear at that point (usually looking pretty shocked! )
.... the SV is a top heavy old lump too (the SVS in particular), so again our stereotypical ikle weak girl might struggle with the weight. :?
ahhh yes ... it is people going on the badge, what they think/have heard rather than what they have tried/know!! ;)
I dont think the SV is top heavy at all - the weight is no problem for me (Ive had my share of health probs and Im no spring chicken   )
I personally dont think it has anything to do with ease of ride or weight - I think it is just a particularly nice bike that sounds good, looks good, is in the right price range and Men just dont like it that that girls ride ANY bike, same old story - Men think they have the monopoly on bikes and now its gradually changing they dont like it   Like they used to have a Monopoly on Golf but now thats changed so....................
MEN, GET USED TO IT

I think that was clear by the profundity of his comments to you ;) He was probably kicking himself for saying a comment like that after (I would have thought 'doh, why didn't you just say she looks like a bloke in leathers!! :D) ... but somehow it actually worked (i.e. it plesasd you)!!
As for the ZX6 ... Sooooo you felt more secure on a bike you had been riding for ages than one you just stepped on ... .... hummmmmmmmm ;)
I have never heard anyone who has ridden a variety (and cross section, not just variants on the same theme) of bike say that they have found the SV the easiest of the bunch to ride.
Oh and as for the farm thing, I drove a tractor before I drove a car ;) (Mate at school had a farm and I used to help out/work there in the summer).

I think the SV feels very natural from the off. I found a hornet alot harder to ride! so so twitchy, the sv is so easy at low revs/speeds. But reviewers always comment whilst the sv is easy to ride, its capable enough to excite even the most experienced riders. as for a girls bike, i don't know how any vtwin can be called that! these ss600s are easy enough to ride on nowadays. But its always the weekend riders in suzuki matching leather, helmet, gloves, bike that call them 'girls bikes' (with 600 miles on their bikes clock)

Back in the late 80s there was pretty much nothing sweeter than a KR1/1-S … but it doesn’t make any sense today, (you did the right thing to sell) but still an iconic bike to have owned!! 8) You have actually gone up in my books now Paws …
Get rid of that ZX9 though and buy something nice … as conversely I have never liked the ZX9 ... it just does nothing for me, so I have no time for it ;)

Yep- I know a couple of bikers who have landies. Tend to be well driven on road and actually driven off road. The exact opposite of chelsea tractors in those respects. :)
