anyone know if the main engine mount (bar that goes right through the engine) is the same on the sv1000 as it is on the sv650? ive got to get a new one and theres one on Ebay at the moment for £7.

Not sure which of the 3 you are referring to, but here are the fiche pages + parts numbers:

Sure,

I use:

http://www.bellssuzuki.com/fiche_select.asp

or

http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/GetMan.cfm

Ron Ayers have more manufacturers online, whereas Bell have better quality images. Prices do vary though when compared to the UK, but I guess you could use it as a guide. Part numbers are the same as UK though which is very handy for ordering parts here.

Bit confused. I thought I was first reply offering you mine - probably not much use as it's a 650 strange where my post went though :?

sorry about this i'll explain  the sv1000 has R&G crash protectors fitted well the alloy bits anyway underneath the fairing pannels, these are held on by removing the main engine mount bolt that goes all the way through the frame and engine and replacing it with the R&G bar and then you screw the alloy R&G holders to each side of the bike. well some numpty has threaded the bolt and i cant tighten them up so the main engine support is well looser than it should be, so i need either a sv1000 engine mount bolt or a new bar from R&G so i can tighten thing up. i have e mailed R&G about the price of a new bar but i'm still waiting for a reply.

I think you'll need an R&G one if you want to use the bungs as IIRC they are different lengths.

OK thought that after I posted, Luke think he was considering doing without the R&G's just to get a proper engine mount.

Make sure you get a new nut too. It's an M10 or M12 thread but only 17mm. That is a Japanese spec. Euro spec is a 19mm nut for that thread, but if the R&Gs are anything like the Moko bungs you'll not be able to get a 19mm socket into the hole in the bung. If the other guy screwed the bar he will have screwed the nut too.

I tried and failed to get a nut. Eventually got one from the workshop floor at local suzuki dealers.

If you do find a source of 17mm nuts with the right thread and locking and silver, please let me know as I need one too.

Good luck,
Mark
