I've made a complaint to the highways agency about the state of the roundabout at Liss on the A3, known as 'Ham Barn'.
My blog currently has the details here:

Ham Barn Roundabout A3 reply from the Highways Agency. (http://bikersview.blogspot.com/2006/11/ham-barn-roundabout-a3.html)

My reply back to them (http://bikersview.blogspot.com/2006/11/ham-barn-roundabout-a3-reply.html)

My next action is to try to get some photo's...

Last time I had a complaint about a road in London, I complained to TfL, who passed the complaint on to which ever council it was. The road surface was misteriously scraped off a few weeks after, (It was the battersea road, where the cement/concrete keeps getting dripped onto theroad by lorries)

might be worth a note to TfL if its in there juristiction. I'm sure it wasn't just my complaint, but who knows.

Nowhere near TfL - unless they have extend the congestion charge to Portsmouth

Scr3w the council - sent the reply and your initial letter to the police and your MP

Let them know that you regard this piece of work to be criminal negligence.

This is the same as a loose paving stone and they get sued over people tripping over them all the time.

Escalate this as high as you can.

I will be... I did the same with another roundabout in Portsmouth and they finally sorted it out. Took about 3 months to get done, but its sorted now and I've learn't a few tricks.
If I don't get a satisfactory reply then it will get moving, just need to sort the photos when the weather dies off a bit. Plus I'll mention that I've blog'd it... Then, pick my next road... the plan is to have perfect tarmac all the way to work. :D

Got a reply to that e-mail that was sent and looks like its going to be sorted shortly.

Further to your email, I have spoken to the Small Works Team and there is a scheme to resurface the Ham Barn roundabout and the approaches northbound and southbound. The works are currently programmed to commence on the 8th December and anti skid repairs will follow in the spring but I can't say exactly when this is.

So looks like I'm going to have to find another road to moan about... but where next. Oh and I need to sort some before and after pic's.

When I did my BikeSafe day with the Met Police in July they advised that if any road has potholes or other damage, enough to potentially cause an accident and especially involving a motorcycle, to stay at the offending place and ring the local police or 999. Your call will be logged and an officer will inspect the site and advise the council to get it soughted immediately.

I have used this system yet, but cos the police told the group, it must work for some (should work for all!!)

Fairplay for reporting it to the council, pictures would be good and putting them on your blog would show others what to avoid if they are strangers to the area!!

Keep the forum informed, I would like to know how you get on.

Will do... forgot the camera today so will have to get the pics tomorrow. I think next is to complain about the lack of road marking on the A3 through the QE country park.
