Have a good strong coffee and tomorrow please analyse why you drink like that and why you need to brag about it.

Yes we have all been young and had a few to many. But I have seen people go one too many, one too many times and allowed booze to ruin their lives. You sound like you are already making excuses for your drinking.

god I sound like an advert for AA. I am not. I too drank too much in my youth, but I still enjoy a drink and have the occasional bender. But I had a father in law who was an alcy. Seeing him being thrown out of pubs for sponging drinks off strangers, living rough in the salvation army hostel. When he had a flat we furnished it for him and he sold his telly, microwave and fridge for booze. My missus went to change clean his flat once and found the bed to be soaking in urine.

I had another friend, public school, dropped out of the system at 18 and was rescued by his father to run one of his carpet shops. One day he robs the takings and goes on yet another bender and his sacked. 2 days later is arrested for drink driving with his 3 month old daughter in the car. He now is also a down and out. 10 O levels, A levels and a fluent french and german speaker. Can he get a job. No because he can't because he will not dry out.

So please slow down. The incidious thing about a booze dependancy is that it sneaks up on you. You think you are its maser until you find out you are its bitch

Can't vote I don't drink... I used to, but I'd rather not talk about it.

Havn't been properly drunk for years, I might get a bit tipsy at Christmas but that's about it. I can get randomly drink/drug tested at work so don't drink that much anymore as I don't want instant dismissal.

admitidly you need to know your l,imits...and i doo. i have had too much so i have stiooed, peope need to ahve sekf control, when peeople go over the top u tend to find that they hve no self control. its the same with everything else. take shopping for example. some popele have bad habbits shop oo much and get into loads of debts. down to self conrtrol again.

You're a student but only get drunk twice a week? What are students coming to these days? When I was a student there were drunk nights at least 5 nights a week!

Where's the 1 or 2 times a year option?

Hardly ever get drunk these days...... maybe the office party at Christmas. Perhaps.

I prefer to be sober and without a hangover when riding my bike in the mornings........ bike or booze? Bike wins.

getting drunk less and less. the older i get the less i'm enjoying the "morning after" feeling, i hate waking on a saturday or sunday morning when i've got things planned and feel like guff.

I don't drink much anymore, either. When I left uni I easily lost a stone within the first month. I now drink occasionally, like a couple a week and maybe drink while out twice a month, but I generally don't bother.
Hangovers leave me absolutely wrecked and I don't particularly enjoy being drunk anymore, anyway.

I had to stop entirely for a few months because of my painkillers etc... Plus being drunk when you're leg's not firmly attached would be a little foolhardy I think :) Never really got back into the habit... Not that I don't drink, but my capacity's shrunk and I don't just automatically order a pint if I'm only out for a while. But then, I never drank just to get drunk, even when I used to drink a lot more.

Being nicely drunk's great, though. It's not a very effective drug, but it's accessible, legal and socially acceptable... A good social lubricant. I always found whisky gives me a nice mellow drunk.

Never bought the whole removing inhibitions thing though... By the time I'm drunk enough not to feel selfconscious about things, I'm too drunk to speak coherently :)

I didn't vote because the option for once, maybe twice a year isn't there. The last time I was drunk is very well documented in the essex lounge and ecosse posse
I cant stand the hangover the next day and it usually only clears about 2 or 3 days after the event :?

I like a drink. A beer or a double vodka after a particularly hard day's work is a nice treat. A few (IE about 3) pints with some friends whilst having a natter down the pub is a pleasurable way to spend a saturday night.

As to getting drunk? Hardly do it anymore. NYE, or a boys weekend away are the only time I'll drink heavily. I used to cane it when I was 16-18. I did become borderline dependent on it for a while (I would 'find' myself down the pub on my own, without any intention of going there), but didn't like that, so went cold turkey for 3 months. Since then, I've never "needed" a drink.

Goes to show, like most problems, catching it early stops it developing farther and becoming something nasty. Mind you, most people cant recognise it when they become dependant on stuff..

Er I am in the highest category. Cos I am siting at work with a stinking hangover! I used to get drunk very often at uni, now with a job its just at weekends and the odd weekday event, but the hangovers are getting unbearable, so I am cutting down more and more. I think thats what naturally happens as you grow older, have more responsibilities and discover more fun things than hangovers in life. So no need for Mr High and Mighty going in telling the poor lad off, we've all done drunken posts!

I remember once i sent a drunken text to a mate, asking where he was. It was just letters and numbers, making no sense...

...beer and Aftershock dont do well for linguistic abilities

[EDIT] i only know because he saved it and showed me when we returned to school the next day (i think i must have been 15 or 16!)

Had enough really of alcohol after the drinking games, use of funnels, boat races, etc I had to do after matches at uni.

there is nothing wrong with doing what you enjoy, i really enjoy a drink, i have been drinking from a very young age, been far far far far far far to drunk in the past, and now i will have "drink(s)" on Friday and sat night, and sometimes we will go out during the week as well, there is nothing wrong with it IMO, as long as you are sensible,

There deffo needs to be a few more options!! ;)

I don’t get drunk that often these days, as you get older you realise how much of a waste of time (hangover writes the next day or so out for me) and money it is. Enjoy it now as when you graduate and get a fulltime job you will realise the only time that is your own is the weekend … 2 days … I don’t want to waste that time feeling like poo!! It also sets you back at least 40-50 quid to go out on the raz, I can spend that money much better elsewhere these days ;)

If you like being drunk coz you can pick up/attempt to pick up chicks, well drunk chicks (and before someone else says it, they would have to be very drunk to give me the time of day ) have never done anything for me, its just not attractive!! ;)

That’s not to say I don’t believe in going out on the lash, just don’t feel the need to do it EVERY weekend.

I am not a big drinker anyway, but my sesh’s are a bit sporadic, sometimes it’ll be as long as say 3 months between drops, other times couple of weekends in a row. I pretty much never drink at home ... I only socially drink.

Never get "drunk" these days. I hate hangovers and my capacity to take alcohol is pretty low. Plus I'm often driving/riding and I won't touch a drop if that's the case.

I can't stress enough how much I hate hangovers, that thumping head, feeling sick and not able to think (or see) clearly...

When we found out that roughly 167 pints of guiness will give you ALL of your daily intake needs from vitamins to fiber we've been trying to proove or disproove this but for some reason they stop serving us before we can ever get the the magic number :(

now that i am sober and back from work i can do some explaining.

there was a once every blue moon and tee total as options but i dont think i put it in properly, and i have had the worst hangover for a long time. not good. still got a bit of a headache. when im at uni i do noramlly drink throughout the week. the student bars are great and bournemouth is just so easy to pop out and get a drink. but i am on a placement year at the mo, but still looking. but working till i find a job.

If anyone knows anyone or anywhere who would consider taking on a product design student as a placment student then pm me PLEASE. its getting pretty lat now. got to be somewhere on the sounth coast. bournemouth area if possible cos the bike is non opperational.

cheers

The drivers have it easy, if they jump a Red signal the Train protection cuts in and it stops. However if the signal is set green by the signaller when it shouldn't be you might have a situation. I am a signaller by the way and for some reason they class it as a safety critical job which means random testing for drink and drugs and we are always tested if something goes wrong.

Which is why I don't drink much now as I am always pressing the wrong buttons.

I get "really rather drunk" perhaps twice a year. I find I sort of 'need' to every now and again in a sort of blowing cobwebs out kind of way. Tends to happen by accident when I'm out somewhere and having a really good time.

I get drunk as in feel it and wouldn't be happy to drive, perhaps once a month on average.

I have a drink several times a week.

I do like the relaxing feeling of a decent drink at the right time. I also like the reduction in inhibitions. I've often thought to myself I'd be much more (socially) successful if I could be permanently at the state of having drunk one or two pints (without the coordination degradation obviously).

In terms of alcoholism. A friend of mine reckons he has an addictive personality. He won't drink any more as he used to and he ended up drinking too much. I think I'm the opposite - I don't think I could get addicted to alcohol or smoking (not going to try drugs).

dont really drink much any more, i dont like going past the happy tippsy feeling as it all ends badly after that!!

I cant handle the day after either, as to me its a wast of a day. inevatibly its a weekend and you end up spending 1/3 of it ill in bed! not my idea of fun.

I have done my getting absolutly smashed and all that goes with it when i was a younger squaddie!!

all the fights, pulling mingers (only to have to chew through your own arm the next day to escape). I Germany was great for me when i was younger back then i was a novilty having 24hr bars and only closing when the last person left.

More than once i have gone out all night and turned up 30 min before the start of work, got showered shaved etc, changed and gone to work. The forces are great for things like that. well they use to be. you could get away with it and people thought it was funny. Even turned up on guard as guard commander once ****ed, my 2IC was a mate of mine and took over while i slept it off!!

its not big and its not clever, but my god its fun at the time!!

When I have money eg. student loan I will go out and get really rather laddered about 1-2 times a week. When I'm watching the pennies (80% of the time) then I will buy some beer and have a couple in a friends flat maybe once a week.

When I was in full time work I was relatively loaded and was drinking heavily 3 times a week and having a blast. When my best friend came to uni for 4 days we went drinking 3 nights in a row and got smashed every night but thats a once a year occurence. Download was VERY messy!
