...other than the year of manufacture, and the obvious colour options, were there any differences between the different K's, and if so what are they and which is the best to go for?

Cheers! :)

minor changes really, the only major one is the colour.

As far as I know...

K3 has the tool kit under the seat, rather than the silly plastic box in front of the rear wheel, and a slightly shallower angle between the frame and sub-frame than all the others.

K4,5,6 and 7 should be identical apart from the obvious paint and frame colour.

K3 huggers, tanks, seats and maybe some other bits in that area don't fit the K4 onwards.

One year isn't any better than the other so don't let sway your decision, it's just something to bear in mind when buying spares and aftermarket bits.

p.s. I'm not 100% on this so don't buy any bits untill someone else has confirmed it.

K3 has a higher seat height as wel IIRC.

The best one to go for is the one that fits your budget best  How much are you looking to spend ?

k3 has a bigger radiator and diff foot peg design.

K5 onwards has a narrower radiator (less likely to get damaged in an off) and some major improvements to the engine internals (should be a lot more reliable).

For the ponties it goes like this:

K3 - available in Silver, blue and ginger. with silver frame and wheels First model after the curvy. Big redesign in shape and style. Similar motor but replaced carbs with fuel injection. Also has a digital speedo which features a clock!

K4 - available in black, blue and yellow - altered subframe, relocated toolbox from under the seat to under the battery. Seat changed shape slightly. gear shift pivot moved from the footpeg to in front of it.

K5 - available in Blue, Black and Red - switched to black wheels and frames. Radiator changed shape - didn't they alter the cam chains/adjusters?

K6 - available in bluey/silver, red and turquoise (worst colousr ever!)- Not sure what else is different.

Please feel free to add amend changes

Thanks
Luke

There are lots of styling differences between the K3 and K4 which make them easy to tell apart, excl already mentioned above = Sidestand, S/Suzuki tank sticker.
I would like to know if there are any differences to tell K5 & K6’s apart without becoming an anorak and knowing colours by year?
Oh and just to restate K5 & K6 reds are different.

Cam chain adjusters, also the crankcases on the K3 are different to the K4 onwards. Quite a few little bits but hardly anything to worry yourself over!.

Buy the one that suits your budget the best!

I'd say the subframes on the K5 onwards are also lighter. Or at least the K5 one i have is lighter than the K3 one
