No not really. You'll have the tiles for years and if they're not straight it'll irritate you every time you look at them. Worth paying for a proper job.

It's a piece of **** of you've got half a brain, roll your sleeves up. Start on a batten screwed to the wall/floor to get them straight.

hehe I got you.
I've done lots for family and friends, the one thing I will say is it's demanding to work on your knees for 8 hours, leaves me totally shagged out lol. I could never do it pro.
we got our bathroom done ,£300 and done in a day ,next time i would do it myself ,,just take a bit longer ,its not rocket science ,just get the right tools and away you go .take some time to get your starting point bang on,a couple of measurements and waehae, ive done a couple of small jobs (shower cubicles and single walls)but i thought the whole bathroom was beyond me ,but after watching them they just done as iv done ,not impressed ,could do btr myself (albeit slower but its not a race ) my 2p worth -do it yourself ,if it goes tits up(which it wont )then get a tiler in ,money for old rope really

My son is a tiler. He started at age 16 and is now 20 and still with same company who rip him off badly paid £200/week as normally they use him to work with their contractors
When he does get his own jobs he is paid £15/metre. And has to claim his milage from the taxman as his employers will not pay travel. But he knows his empoyers are charging £35/metre, Cripe over about tiling companies
OK tiling as a job. Everyone can do it. But few do it right. A cockup screams out loud. my lad normally does floors on conservatories and the like and moans about knees ache, cuts, bad back, working in the cold/rain in winter, house holder who will not let them use the toilet etc.
you don't need much in the way of up front costs. A large & Medium Rubi, a decent tile cutter a few notched trowels and a van. Lots of buckets for mixing your sticky etc.
