Is it me or do Scottish winters suck?
Although it is better than the Shetlands and Orkneys where I was last week!
They suck!
Cold wet and miserable and no snow any where!
Eh?
This is an unseasonably warm December and you're complaining. Some folks are never happy.

Apparently it's "climate change" or some such nonsense. If we pay more tax the weather will improve...

It is the damp that gets me.
Never dries out.
Not motorcycle weather...although the K5 starts on the first press...as it should...

Today was the first proper cold day, and it's the middle of december. Best year I can remember since I started riding... There's been plenty of great days, and even when it's been wet it's not often been all that wet. Though there's been a few nightmares (wednesday night in perth and fife was stinking...)
This isn't winter, it's not even trying. Duck-Man rode to ingliston and back in jeans tonight  Try that on a proper cold night and your knees fall off.

Ice city at my place this morning, took me 3 attempts to get the car up the icy hill to the house last night, hope you two brave souls on the bikes didnt meet much, main roads were fine but once I got off the beaten track :reaper: Was told when i moved here that I'd need a 4x4 for the winter and i poo hood it, time to eat my words, anybody wanna swap me their jeep for the next 3 months
This mornings just bananas, at least its the white ice that i can see, hope it'll clear up by early afternoon so I can get out for a run. Got plenty decorating to be getting on with in the interim, If anyones going out today take care 8)
Well I had a very tenuious motorcycle related accident this morning.
I was walking down the steps in Hawick next to MotoBrio (which is the tenuious link) and I managed to slip on a nice patch of ice. In true slapstick fashion, I went skyward, only to follow my freshly purchased cup of coffee and copy of the Guardian to the bottom of the steps.
The only amusing part of this story is I got to use an old Chic Murray one liner. A couple of old dears passing by asked me if I'd fallen and I just couldn't help myself but to answer, "no, I'm just trying to break a bar of chocolate in my back pocket".

Right, I have now declared winter On :)
Right, I have now declared winter On :)
Wait a minute, let me call a steward's enquiry. It's still above freezing, there's no snow, okay it's very wet and windy and there are occasional busts of hail and frost.
:-k
Sounds like a typical Scottish summer to me. :P

Nah, seriously, Gaffer Fazer took the train in today, that only usually happens when he can't get it out of the shed. Winter.
Or he's hungover of course.

OMG!!!!
I have never lived through such weather!!!
The roads were rivers and the rivers are oceans!
Utterly dreadful

How come after this rain and wind you still end up with a filthy bike? The bike (and rider) is getting jet washed all the way home! This is bound to be a record December, probably both warmest and wettest!
Have to say though - Frank Thomas Aqua Sport all in one suit is fantastic kit and only 40 quid.

It's global warming I tells you!
I dont understand the "global warming thing" if it was warming, wouldn't we have it sunnier? and Warmer??
summer should be "global warming" and winter should be "global ****eweather"
thats my opinion.

Hah, you're on the west coast... Looks like rising sea temps will cause the gulfstream to move, which'll result in something like a 5 degree drop up most of the west of scotland. So nae luck :)

We had snow here about 2 weeks ago! Welcome to sunny California the sign says
It's been raining heavy here for the last 4 days solid.. and the high winds added means it's been raining inside my shed! Need to seal up the apex of the roof with something, the wind has been blowing the water up the slope of the roof and under the capping plates... the poor bike got soaked
Froze my rear tyre off on the way to and from Cupar today.. ice everywhere.. scary stuff. Thankfully the roads weren't too bad but you can't help but wonder when you're gonna hit a slippery bit! Seemed crazy to be riding in such weather.. but to be sure my bike's fine and get insurance co. off my back is a relief. Had a sticky brake problem sorted (aparantley just full of gunk) and oil change while there just to try make it worth the freezing trip.. Bike feels like new again!! :D
Oh and I'm sure I saw a polar bear on the way back..

Seems like we all got caught a bit on the hop today... I was out and about last night and it wasn't that cold, but this morning my bit was an icy deathtrap. The roads had got some salting, but hte pavements were all deadly. Didn't thaw that much all day either... Ground temps finally fell enough so that it doesn't need a really hard night to ice up I guess.

Right, I have now declared winter On :)
I was going to be a smartarse and wait till the 22nd to declare Winter on but all my fingers fell off this morning so I guess it's here.
Mind you, my fingers never used to fall off when it was 1 degree so I'm blaming Global Warming for making me soft.
Either that or I need new gloves.

Thick fog and -'C means a cold eve.
Would have liked some snow rather than this murk. No good for ones health.
Christmas looks like being a bright day but temps never getting above freezing.
Ah well...live in Scotland and get what you deserve.   :D  :P

Wasn't yesterday good though? Well compared to the crap we've got used to since summer ended anyway. Roads even dried out a bit in late afternoon.
