...I'm new. I finally get to see my new-to-me SV650 S tomorrow! I bought it on Friday, but had to send my dad to Essex to collect it as I was working. He rode it to Mission in Bletchley to have a restrictor kit fitted and, assuming it's ready, I'll be riding it away tomorrow!

I can't wait.

There are some excellent roads in Beds/Herts and now I finally have a chance to ride them at more than 35 mph!

Hello & welcome.

We're not all insane, honest! (Some are just slightly mad)

Take it easy on the new bike until you get used to her, then give it some abuse in the summer months when the roads are better ;)

G'day and welcome also!

I've been waiting 11 weeks so far to get my first ride on my sv (i left it at home to be sorted out while i came away to uni for the first term). Just one more week - this time next monday, i should be out on the road (waether permitting). :D :D

It's gonna be a loooooooong week...

I finally saw and rode it today - and I love it! There's only one minor problem though, the speedo spontaneously failed on the A5065 and started working again a short while later. Could this be linked to the restrictor kit? Is it water in the sensor or has something more serious gone wrong?

Usual cause of that is either a broken speed pickup sensor on the front wheel, or an electrical fault. If it's recently had new rubber, I'd suspect the pickup. Pretty cheap to fix, and plenty of information on the forum if you search long enough.

If it's electrical though, that's where it gets fun!

Mine stopped and started working when I changed the brake pads recently, found I was crushing the sensor cable between the fork lump and the stop, moved the cable and its worked OK ever since.

I had something very like that, but with a curvy... It was caused by a loose connection on the battery. Not sure if the same would happen with a pointy though.

I would wave as well but this white jacket they put on me is a bit constrictive.
