if i'm going to loose £2700 because of this accident i need to recover funds :? i would break it for spares but that costs time and money.

Kwak, go and buy a MCN, get the advert supplment out of the middle and start readng the back section of it, It normally has spares and Cat C & Cat D write off bikes and salvage garages advertising bikes like your 650 for sale. It should give you some idea of price...

With the risk of forks wheel etc etc and rare bits needing replacement i guess it could be worth between £1000 - £1200
hope that helps

If the forks are gone then the yokes and wheel will be suspect so probably 800 - 1000.

the forks are bent but only very slightly you can hardly notice.

I don't think anyone would be very happy "only very slightly" ****ed

As I've said before you would really be best to repair and sell for 2 reasons

1. It's not registered a write off yet
2. The condition of the rest of it :D

Would you make more from stripping it and selling the bits or selling it as a Cat C or D repaired?

Both come with hassle, either taking it apart and listing all the bits somewhere or having to shell out more dough and then rebuild it yourself!

Looking at other bikes on the internet I reckon that £1250 might be your figure.

I HAVE JUST BEEN GIVEN A CHECK FOR £2600 BY A THIRD PARTIES INSURANCE, THEY SAID MY SV650 S, K6 WITH 1075 MILES ON AND UNDER THREE MONTHS OLD, WAS UNECONOMICAL TO REPAIR. THE LET ME KEEP THE BIKE.....THEY VALUED IT AT £695!... IT IS NOW BEING TURNED INTO A STREETFIGHTER :D NO MAJOR DAMAGE, JUST A SLIGHTLY BENT REAR SUBFRAME. WHERE THE TRANSIT HIT THE REAR PILLION FOOTREST. A SMALL CRACK ON THE FRONT FAIRING AND A FEW SCRATCHES AS WELL AS NO FOOTPEGS OR FRONT BRAKE LEVER.

Insurers value Cart D write offs at roughly 40% of value, so my SK3 in okish condition was valued at £2,500 and I had to pay £1,000 to buy it back, salvage would have been charged a wee bit more (43% me thinks). So if your forks are gone (sounds like it) and all the fairing then I'd be very surprised if you got over £1,000, probaby looking at around £800. If you want more then fix it yourself or sell for parts IMHO.

I paid £1k for mine and i considered that a good price.

It was really cheap for me to repair it as there is an abundance of damaged sv's so parts are easy to get on ebay etc.

this is what it looked like when i picked it up, k4 10k miles with front end damage and some plastics broken.
