View Full Version : Should that be there?

OK well, basic story, commuting in this morning, the car in front of me threw up a chunk of MDF right in front of my eyes  Not really the drivers fault, but sill, not a nice thing at motorway speeds.

Tried my best to avoid it, but given the speed of everything, and the gusting wind, the MDF hit my right fork, luckily, and then reflected away missing my leg etc.

So I pulled over to make sure nothing had been damaged, and couldn't see much. The right fork LOOKED to have some scratch marks on it, but later these appear to of been washed off  Just light scuffs at best then.

The potential problem, is should the SV have a line, going from the front axel, down to the bottom of the fork? This is only present on the right fork (as you sit on the bike), and it looks DAMN straight to be a crack, but better safe than sorry ;)

If someone tells me it is a crack, I might even consider the GSXR swap ;) but I doubt it is. If needed, I can get a photo of it.

Can anyone think of anything else I might want to check after the impact this morning (handling inc whilst swerving hard, seems fine).

Big thanks to Stu, who's obviously just been out to look at his bike, and called me on my VoIP number to tell me it's nothing to worry about :)

BTW Stu, headset on Skype, for some reason it was set to full right audio, and I didn't have the right earpiece in, then the volume was cracked right up so distored to hell, but cheers again. I'll probably be in touch with you at somepoint regarding something we talked about before, but need to get it sorted first :)

Whoops only just seen this, I guess it's a bit late to answer it's meant to be there.

I am assuming you mean the line from the wheel axle part to the bottom of the forks near the front axle pinch bolt.

Dude what do you need to sort?? Is it a trip to the doctors for a cream?

Law, yup, that'd be the one. Only even noticed it was there this morning looking the bike over for damage, and saw it was only the right, and not the left. So figured I'd ask.

fullstop102, nope. Something bike related but we've both agreed to keep it strictly away from the forum :)

The plot thickens!! I'll have to beat it out of Stu at the GM meet. :smt075

I wondered the same thing when I saw that crack with the pinch bolt. Either its perfectly normal, or we both have defective forks  Gixxer swap would be awesome though so use this as an excuse.
