Which double bubble screen is best and is it worth me getting one?

Suzuki do an OEM one, but it only comes in one colour - advice please.

I like F Fabbri... Fit and finish is very good, and I find it deflects air just right for me. Still, there's no one perfect screen, since riders come in all different sizes. If you were a few inhes shorter or taller than me, or if you ride more crouced or more upright, then you might find that what's comfy for me equals windblast in the face for you.

Well i'm about 5'9" and tend to sit quite upright on my commute. Does that help?

I have seen the Fabbri ones on the internet and they look good, but I don't want to buy something that will make my journey worse. Is it just a case of suck it and see.

Anyway surely it couldn't be worse than my standard one, could it?

Are they easy to fit - for a total novice?

Fitted a Fabbri to mine a few months ago. Didn't take very long to do, and was really simple.

It fits OK, but the original screen fits better - its thickness varies around the mounting points if I remember correctly

I'm about the same hight as you, maybe a little bit taller, not by much though. Been a long time since I've measured myself.

I've got the light smoked Fabbri on my K6, and (on private roads only officer) have found I can quite happily sit almost bolt upright at speeds around 115mph. Push it much more, and you start to feel the wind blast though.

As for fitting, unscrew the old one, keeping the rubber inserts & screws. Put the rubber inserts in a cup of warm (not too warm, you'll need them soon) water. Put the new screen in place, use the rubber inserts & push them into the holes. Screw the screws back into the rubber inserts. Job done.

The only fiddly bit I found, was aligning all the holes up right, it's not QUITE a perfect fit, but it's as near as damned it. Took me around 20mins from start to finish, and only that long because I was being overly cautious.

I took my DB off and fitted the OE, it actually feels better for me. I had a fabbri, but there was some high speed buffeting that I didn't like. So the stocker works better for me, on my curvy, for the time being.

They do an OEM double bubble screen - maybe that might be the way to go.

I fancied a dark fabri one, butas I'm new to biking and don't want anything to put me off the light oem one might be the better option.....

Fabri do a clear one.

I want the dark one though - it looks much better.

Just worried about the fit and the buffeting!

krhall, I just got to ask the question, Why do you want the double bubble?

-for wind blast protection
-for looks
-bit of both

You are bout the same height as I am and to be honest found the standard screen fine. Yes at speed there was a little buffetting but if anything helped take the weight off my wrists. At no point between speeds of zero to maximum was there enough buffeting to make me feel even slightly uncomfortable. Before someone says I'm completely wrong and should ba cast out, you must take into account we all have slightly different seating positions and riding preferences. This is by 2 bobs worth.

Just an observation though, I have not seen that many pointies with the double bubble screen around here. E.d. has one though that loks very good. From memory, I don't recall seeing many at the AR06 or Porlock either. I've seen many more on curveys though.

If you get a chance get a test ride on a used bike fitted with one to see if it suits you. Remember hat the different manufacturers have different profiles als well.

As for looks, well thats personall preference, I like em. I don't have my SV anymore :smt089 so I guess I'll not bother getting one.

I'm 5'10 and spent most of the year before last sitting up like El Cid :) DId me proud. The fit's not quiet as good as standard, that's true, but then not many are. I've not fitted one to a pointy myself.

I bought a Fabbri off Furry Ginger One; easy to fit, and looks great (its the dark version). Its alot higher than the standard screen, and as I'm a short-ar5e (5ft 6ins) the windblast is minimal. Has made my lid noisier though.

If fitting to a pointy be careful of the rubber strip that runs round the bottom of the fairing where the screen bolts on. It can move out of place, so take care when fitting. Not sure about the curvy though.

Yes it could - a bigger DB doesn't necessarily mean less noise and buffeting. Sitting upright with my head well above the DB there's some wind noise and buffeting. As I crouch a bit it gets worse as the turbulent air deflected off the top of the screen gives more noise / buffeting. Getting right down behind the screen then makes it nice and quiet, but it's not comfortable for long periods.

So if your height and DB screen size are such that you're in the turbulent air flow in your normal riding position the DB could be a lot worse at higher speeds.
