I'm looking at replacing my 2000 Honda VTR1000F Superhawk with an SV650 and had a couple ofquestions. First question is on the SV650S vs the SV650 naked bike. I also have a Kawasaki Concours that I use for long distance riding (26000 miles in a litttle over a year) and will continue to use it for the LD stuff. I plan to use to use the SV for short rides (300 miles or less). I live in Texas where it gets pretty hot in the summer (95F - 105F is common) so I like the idea of the naked bike for a cooler ride, in fact the less protection the better. I'm also starting to have lower back problems (one of the reasons for selling the VTR) and like the idea of the more relaxed riding position on the naked bike. Has anyone bought one modeland wished they'd bought the other (particularly if they bought the naked bike and then wished they had got the 'S' model)?
I'm also a little concerned that I might find the SV a little underpowered after the 996 VTR. I suspect probably not as I certainly don't push the limits of the VTR and from what I've read the SV sounds like it's a pretty good performer it it's own right. Anyone buy the SV650 and wish they'd gone with the SV1000 or even the DL1000? My other choice is to keep the VTR and just add Gen Mar risers or Heli Bars, but I don't think either willl change the riding position that much.
Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers Howard
