View Full Version : New venue needed(1st post updated)
I think its time of new year, New venue. Due to the increasingly bad food, service and attitude of the Harvester i think its about time we changed venue.
List of posibilites
Toby carvery - Badgers Mount. (Carvery and bar)
The White Hart - Brasted (Vintage inn. Nice food nice pub)
Sidcup place - Sidcup (Brewers fair and bar)
Pub in Farnigham TBC (awaiting some feedback)
So a list of requirements.
Easy to get to
The current one is accessable from a multitude of A-raods and motorways. Its not exactly a bike meeting place, but most of the south meets are to heavily policed hence the move from the Oakdene a couple of years ago. Needs to be accessed by people form south london, north kent and Surrey.
Beer garden for the summer
Current pub has a decent garden. Nice for the late summer meets
Food
Not sure what people want here, so please discuss
Decent carpark
Not gravel
Plenty of room
When theres a lot of us, it can get packed
If anyone can suggest places, then post up, we'll go and have a look, then make a decision.
Plesase discuss

There is a pub just outside of westerham, (before you get to westerham from redhill direction) i can't remember the name, i'm pretty sure they have a garden and they have a very large carpark, i've seen a lot of bikes meet there on a sunday. probably do good food too, but i've never been there so it's just a suggestion than a recommendation at the moment. it's a really large, old pub that looks like loads of building being joing together if that makes sense.

Sounds like The Grass Hopper on the A25. Its not to bad apart from the bar inside is a little on the small side. The rest of the place is a restaurant and club I belive.

It is the grasshopper. It's a grab-a-granny venue at the weekends! Food isn't too bad though. It's a big hit with a lot of car meets on Sundays due to the very large carpark! (great for donutting innit)
Why can't we stay where we are? It has all we need!!!

except decent food.
ok, shall we try a different pub then? What about the Toby Carvery that was briefly discussed on Wednesday.
Since we are changing venue, is there any chance we could change from a Wednesday? Maybe to a Tuesday or Thursday? Its just that from April/May time I won't be able to make Wednesdays :(

Im going to complie a list of prosective pubs. One has been put forward in farningham as well.
As for moving the day, we tried that before and got all manner of hassle, but we can try again

Might be a bit far for some, and it's not a pub, but H's Cafe. next to the, Uh hum, Honda dealership, is a good place.
On the A2 just after Canterbury.

www.kentmotorcycles.co.ukWent there on a ride at the beginning of the year. But as kate says, way to far for an evening ride for most of the Selkent lot to be honest. I may ask for a sub forum to be put in this area for the riders down in south Kent/Sussex.

What was the name of the pub at Farningham that Matt and yourself were talking about on Wednesday?
That sounded suitable from what Matt was saying about it.

That would have been The Pied Bull. As for the carvery ie The Badgers Mount, thats a nice big pub with loads of space but has a gravel car park so the thats a no no.

Ta, so that's just south of the roundabout on the A224, and the pub is actually called the Badgers Mount, yes?

Thank you Kate, see you there next time!
For those who, (like me), aren't familiar with the area, (and just to make it completely plain so that I don't **** up), the pub is here*:
Badgers Mount
London Road
Halstead
Sevenoaks
Kent, TN14 7AD (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=549836&y=161251&z=1&sv=549836,161251&st=4&ar=Y&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf)
*I think.

We went past there on our mini ride-out on Sunday and it looks like a nice place. The road beside it is super cool 8) .
