...just wondering, the SV650S clip-on's are pretty low and after sitting on an 02 Fazer today it did feel much more comfortable. So, if I do find the SV too 'sporty' can u fit the naked bikes bars to it to raise them a bit?

Just a'wondering...! :)

Yes.

You can get a conversion kit (I think Helibars used to do them) howevere many people start of with this concern and then just get used to it

I'm just concerned its gonna ruin my lower back on anything over 100 miles...! I'll see how I get on, as long as there's the option...:)

I've ridden 170 miles in a day on my curvy 70 of which were with a pillion and I was fine. You do get used to the riding position after a few weeks. Personally I find riding with a pillion a lot more tiring than riding solo. My brother (who was pillion) is a top passenger but it's still more work riding 2 up.

This had ordinary clipons before:

I must say the LSL bar is much more comfortable for an old man like me

Looks like it would be a LOT more comfortable, however I think i'd suffer the slight annoyance of clip ons for the asthetics (sp?)

I've just fitted the naked top yoke to my curvy S. It makes town riding much more fun.

I've got LSL high-rise flat clipons (for a GSXR thou) fitted at the moment... In some ways I love them, for slow sped they're superb and they're very comfy. A good middle ground between bars and clipons really. But for cracking on, they don't work as well for me as the old clipons did. Less weight over the front, but I think it's mainly that the riding position just seems to disconnect me a little. Racing crouch feels a little daft :)

Then again, I never had a comfort issue with the stock ones, or even with the GSXR ones which were lower still, so I'm probably not feeling the benefits as much as you might.

Was it a big job? ANy idea on costs?

Thanks :)

I got all the bits of ebay, maybe £100. Took me about 2 hours total to swop the yoke and drill the alloy flat bars for the switchgear. When I'm cracking on I just lean forward, plus my bars are those superbike bars that only have one bend per side so they're about as high as the friggin' expensive helibars that I damaged in my most recent off.

It can be done in many different ways. Fitting offset high LSL clip on's which add about an inch to the height for £150, to adding a naked top yoke and bars, to putting on the ultra flashy Gilles Variobars...

Just factor in you may have to add longer cables and lines dependant on what option to go for.

Try rotating the front brake and clutch lever round the bars (lower) if you're getting pain in your wrists/hands - they're set too high as standard.

I find the SV pretty good for going between an upright BMW position and a racing position, depending on what you want. In the racing position, rest your chest/stomach on the tank and kiss your back problems goodbye; you can get your head completely behind the standard screen if you try hard enough. But it's not much fun doing that around town or on the twisties...
