Hi, I'm planning on fitting my new undertray in the next week or so. I'm just wondering about the numberplate light. Do I have to have one on? Or only need one come MOT time?
Thanks for any help

It needs to be illuminated with the sidelights.

It is an MOT item so you must have got lucky.

Ok lol thanks. I'll leave it off for now then. Probs eventually put on, one of those mini LED type ones closer to MOT time.

http://www.ukmot.com/Motorcycle%20MOT.htm

That link explains what a bike needs to pass a mot, no mention of number plate light.

Thanks. Seems like no need for a number plate light then. Just have to remmber to stick the reflector on come the MOT.

That's not up to date, that link- still has the BSAU requirement for cans in, which was dropped some time ago. A little digging on the site found this:

http://www.ukmot.com/bike/1-1.asp

Which is still incomplete- number plate size is in the manual as of this year, and the exhaust rules are missing.

Just found this too- http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/mc_contents.htm
Seems to be a bit more upto date, though doesn't mention plate sizes.
