Hi,

Just been cleaning my 2000 SV650S and noticed the left hand mirror was very loose.

So I removed the plastic cover by the screen, and tighterned up the two bolts with an allen key as tight as I could. However, the mirror was still loose.

Took the mirror off and checked there threads were clean etc and tried again and had the same problem. It appears that I need to tighten the bolts a bit more, but the bolts are as tight as I can get them without having to force them.

Any ideas on how to get the mirrors to fit flush with the fairing (I assume the rubber cover is supposed to sit in between the metal part of the mirror and the fairing)?

Would I be alright to force the bolts tighter?!

Many thanks and Merry Christmas

Loctite do a vast range of thread lock compounds, perminent, semi-perminent etc. Have a chat with a decent garage mechanic/fitter. An aircraft engineer would sort you out a treat but i`ve been out of the game to long to advise you

I've figured out why the mirror is loose despite the bolts being as tight as can be - the rubber space that sits between the mirror arm and fairing is missing.

Not sure why it's missing. I did have it serviced the other day so perhaps they removed the mirror, but can't see any reason to.

If anyone's got a spare space please let me know! :D

Hi Spider,

Once again thanks for your advice. I checked out the site. Some good SV stuff, but not quite what I was after; all I could see where mirror extender / spacers as opposed to the slim (2-3mm) piece of rubber that fits betwen fairing and mirror arm.

Got a short term fix. Will visit my local Suzuki dealer soon to see how much a replacement is if nothing comes up the forum.
