I used to always go to the christmas eve service (church of scotland, not RC), one thing I miss actually.

I normally go but missed last night because we took my daughter to the Christingle service instead...she's a bit young to be going to midnight mass just yet :D

Was at work, but listened to the Radio Four version.
A strangely surreal experience all round. Not in a religious sense as I'm a non believer too,but quite bizarre. 8)

I went to a Roman Catholic mass in the Canaries in millenium year. It went on for about 3hours and I was drunk as a lord :P (bad choice of words)

Never again

I used to get dragged along by my parents as a kid - always found it a bit of an emotional mix.

First it's great being able to stay up late to go, then when you get there it's boring and sleep inducing, you then leave and so the excitement builds the closer you get to home...

... then there is it inevitable let-down of finally getting home - past midnight so it's definately Christmas Day - and being told you've now got to go to bed and aren't allowed to open any pressies under the tree.

What a swizz.

I did enjoy the Christingle services though cos you got to play with an orange with sweets stuck on it.

Nah, I had my fill of churches recently (got hitched) so will probably only go back when we have kiddies. And even then I'll try to fake a sore belly!
