Certainly sounds like him to me, very similar to his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner 8) 8)
Oh yes it does!
Oh no it doesn't!!

The guitar/amp sound isn't at all hendrixy to my ears... Much more modern tone, more like a DSL than a Plexi. Definately not one of his Fenders...

I meant Fender amps, he used Frontmans or some such for a bit ;)
The article doesn't mention him using his own kit and this was shortly before he died, if indeed it was him, he could have played on new kit or borrowed.

Yep, but it's got an amp tone that didn't really exist till 10 years later :) There's a bit of shred fingerwork after about a minute, that was never really a Hendrix trick- he knew better than to waste effort with mad flurries of notes... And that last huge divebomb really implies a floyd rose or similiar, not invented till 79.
Personally, I'd be surprised if that track was recorded more than a decade ago, it sounds like someone who's learned to play after listening to endless Kirk Hammett whammy-solos. Certainly sounds more like Hammett than Hendrix. Sounds more like an awful lot of 90s guitarists than Hendrix IMO.

Yep, the same story's cropping up all over- NME and the Economist are running it too. Slow news day? :)

This was on Welsh news last night. The money now seems to be Titch Gwilym to be the guitarist. Now he could play!

He did a really good version before, which is (I reckon) more Hendrixy... Only thing of his I've heard so I don't know what style he usually plays.
