View Full Version : So, these here resolutions then...

K

... anyone broken one already?

Mine are:
to try to put a little 'less work and more play' into my lifestyle & make more time for other people,
to try to exercise above and beyond my basic physio
and to make more of an attempt to keep the house and garden in order rather than looking like a student dive half (OK, more like 3/4s) of the time.

The last one is the difficult one in regards to mobility issues, but hey, it wouldn't be a resolution if there was no challenge in it. :smt102
Though actually, on reflection, the first one is the hardest as it means dealing with being somewhat shy.

I came to the conclusion last night that as much as I hate it, maybe I need to start presenting a different image to work. To that end I've resolved to start being a good employee and not indulge myself too much during the week.

Well I met Richie numbers at the bike show and he deffo did not strike me as the sort of bloke who leaves his clothes on the floor or his sox inside out

OK, mine, in no particular order. Two lesses and two mores.

Less time in the office, in particular I am going to take every other Wednesday afternoon off.
Less reliance on the red stuff as an answer to a crisis

More money, at least £40K this year. Everyone thinks solicitors are wealthy but no I'm not
More on the trash bash. I've been trying to chuck out crap that I don't need (note - not 'don't want') and it's ground to a halt. More effort required.

1 simple one this year;

Loose 1 inch of my waist

I have decided that weigth is unimportant, its size that matters!

A few years ago I made a simple resolution:

To not make resolutions that I can't keep, and to try just be a little happier in life.

So far, it's panning out well, I haven't made another resolution, and despite several large down periods since making the above resolution, on the whole, it's been a good time.

Hindsight is wonderful afterall ;)

Mine is...

Stop smoking those funny green fags......

After 6-7 years use, the first day of not smoking wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. No cravings (its not actually addictive), but missed the rolling and the actual smoking and the feeling.

Was very awake, and very very very bored last night. Both partner and I have woken up with hot and cold flushes all night and hardly any sleep. Guess thats the de-tox coming out.....

Still, 1 day over (we started ours 1 day later as we had the bank holiday), but still, nearly 7 years every day, and my first 24 hours completed.

My proble is now finding something to pass the time. We're going to go for a pub dinner tonight.

What can be done for cheap/nothing, that will fill a work evening, is interesting (NOT READING ha ha). Gonna start decorating some of the rooms in our house over winter, and we have our rabbits to play with, but i need a hobby to keep my brain occupied after a cr4ppy days work...

Get some cheap model kits from ebay or somwhere similar and build them. Hey, if you can get some bike ones, different bikes but all the same scale you can have some fun with a bit of cosmetic customising without having the expense of actually buying the real bikes.

Once complete you can either keep them as a symbol of how long you've managed, or even sell them back on ebay to generate funds for the next one to build.

Thats actually a good idea. I bought my old man a MotoGP build it yourself model for Xmas as he's still not walking after his accident last year. Thought it would help him pass the time, didn't think about myself

I've not made a resolution, but rather have set myself a goal. I'm not very fit and I used to be. I've also put on weight that I'm not happy with. So rather than saying "I will try and get fit and I will eat more heathily" I've set myself a goal of completing a 55 mile cycle ride for charity in May which gives me 5 months to get fit for it.

Well I went kayaking for the first time in about two years over Christmas. Loved it! Made it down several IVs without a roll or a swim! So I have decided to get out boating a lot more, lose the pork so my boat floats properly again. Need to lose two and a half stones though!!

I have already tackled two major issues that have bothered me over the past 2 years ....... and am feeling rather good about it!

Its true.... you do feel better for saying what you think instead of dwelling on stuff! Now got to keep it up and be more assertive all year, it seems to work! Crikey........ its only the 4th Jan
