Sean do give us a detailed review on it. Ive read the BiKE review and it seems promising. One of these could be a great tourer as well as a lot of fun.

Incidentally with 3 bikes do you ride all year round or have you got a car (and a very understanding missus & big garage) as well?

I wouldn't say 'pig ugly'. It's just got no individual style of its own. It looks like parts of various other bikes cobbled together. The black one definitely looks better then the others though.

Beg to differ, it's a cracking-looking bike :D

I think it looks like someone drove the front end of a bus into the back end of a bus :) Apart from the headlight/fairing it's not too awful though.

Don't like the front much. Like the rest of it. Kind of what I am looking for. The only thing that puts me off is wondering if it will have brakes that work after a few hundred K. Look the same as speed triple and they are known to be gash. Triumph fit and finish is poor too although they do seem to improve with each new model. Fingers crossed. :)

Big gnarly engine makes up for a lot of things tho'!

What Trumpet have you been riding?
The Triumph brakes are renowned for being excellent and so has the finish, admittedly it did drop a little after the T5's but it's never been poor!

The bike press seem to be warming to the Tiger after a fairly slow start, looks like it could be a cracking machine.

CB1000F?

Very, very boring.... Comfortable it may be, but I get more excitement from the average fart than from the CB1000F..... And don't forget, I'm a Honda fan !

I think the Tiger will be a great ride, trouble is I probably couldn't touch the floor on it.....

You might be surprised, it's not as tall as it looks. Sat on one at the NEC and had no probs getting the feet to touch the terra firma, and I ain't no Peter Crouch

The new Triple especially's taken a universal pasting for its brakes- great when they work, but they've had a loss of pressure problem, and Triumph have chased their tails trying to fix it...

And did rather well, from what I read elsewhere (not Bike), reckoned to be the best overall package wasnt it?

But what is it? Its not a big traillie with the GS at one end of that spectrum (road oriented) and the 950 at the other maybe (trail oriented).

Is it a hypermotard, not really I dont think. I think its a more upright Fazer thou type contender. Kind of TDM, MUltistrada, Varadildo niche. What that is called I cant think.. :?

The Transalp is a great bike, really able on tracks and trails, much underrated I think. Sean, I'm surprised you dont have a 950Adv in that stable, ever considered one?

I really liked the new tiger. No looker, but in practical terms a good bike (albeit fuel economy and possibly longer term running costs). A good fun all rounder, with a great road engine and not at all intimidating. I found the chassis was surprisingly taught for such an off road styled bike too.

yep test rode one when they first came out, but the handling was so bad the ktm uk rep took it out of use! also servicing costs put me off the ktm as i cover 45k miles per year. didnt take the tiger out cos it was absolutely ****ing down and i didnt want to sling it down the road! :?

oh, ....and the transalps a cracking bike but i'm finding it too slow. build quality isnt what it used to be either
