View Full Version : Service Intervals
Apologies if this has already been covered.
Bought my SV650S secondhand with 6K miles on the clock, I had it serviced at 7,500 miles, I have now done 10,500 miles, when should I have my next service , and are there any specifics that need to be looked at ?
Cheers
IIRC, the service shedule (for distance) is approx every 3500 miles. So that means you're due for a service about now.
The 7500 is the first 'major' service, and I could be wrong, but the 11k service is pretty minimal.
I need to get my 11k service done actually, she's starting to feel a little rough around the edges & in need of some TLC.

OK, I gotta ask what is IIRC?

11k service is basically just an inspection of hoses, cables, fastners etc, an air & oil filter replacement, and oil change.
15k service is the big one, with valve clearance check
Pete
A 4000 mile sservice schedule is more than adequate.
3500-4000 miles = minor service - oil change, filter, check fasteners, clean, lube & adjust clutch & throttle cables, clean & lube lever pivots, brake pins, shift linkage, chain etc.
7500= intermediate service - minor service + carb.throttle body sync, air filter, plugs
15,000 = major service = intermetiate service + minor service + valve inspection
