Glad I wasn't behind her

Not quite up to the required standard, but perhaps more luck next time

For those not in the know, the Darwin Awards are given to those who help the improvement of the human genome by honoring those who inadvertently remove themselves from it.

This time she walked away though so she technically doesn't become eligible for the award :(

They brought several ambulances & a helicopter to get her out of the cave? What were they trying to do, winch her out with the 'copter?

That's got to be something out of a cartoon...

We don't know yet who will foot the bill

Its a difficult one that... maybe if she was forced to diet for a few weeks she could afford to pay it

To be fair leave here there a week or so just with a few bottles of water (so she doesn't die) and the problem would have sorted itself ;) If the rescue bloke got in over the woman, then the rest of them could have got out?!!? Especially the Diabetic ... also what sort of diabetic doesn't take an insulin shot with them where ever they go?!!??! I think that might have been a bit of poetic license?!?!? ;)

this reminds me a little of a story in the Winnie the Pooh series, when he got stuck having eaten too much honey, probably heading that way myself :(

I don't carry my insulin much at all. It's got to be kept refrigerated you know... It only leaves the house when I think I might need it, and on something like this I'd leave it with the car/bike to avoid the risk of breaking it...

I confess I don't know many diabetics, but I thought these days you kinda got insulin syringes that look a bit like a pen ... pop the top off and have a pre-loaded shot .. the sort of thing you keep in your pocket at all times???

But lets face it, you are obviously a diabetic yourself, so you know way way more than I do on the subject!! :? That's just what I have seen people use ... (wondered what the hell they were doing at first ...)

Some sort of pen system... That's what you'll mainly see in use, because people who don't use them (like me) tend to do much less injections and at set times. It was not a bad observation though :) Even then though, not everyone on a basel bonus system carries it all the time- if you don't expect to eat down the cave, you'd often not take the pen either.

Fair enough ... I am now more enlightened :)

still doesn't mean they couldn't have crawled out over the top if things were looking to be that dodgy ;)
