My mate's birthday coming up, and a few of us get together so we have a reasonable budget of around £200.
He learned to ride with a couple of months ago, so was thinking something bikey (he has a Deauville-commutes & no gargage/drive, so he LOVES the prop bit). He's got all the basic bits for riding.
Anyway, any ideas for what we could get him??
Was thinking a TomTom Ride, but I've not heard/read great things about them. Zumo's too expensive.
Failing that, any ideas for what else we could look at?????????
Thanks,
Andy

Tomtom Rider is ok. I've got one and I've not had a problem with it. Depends who you talk to though.
If your mate has a Dullville, how about getting him an ashtray for it. He won't be going anywhere near fast enough to blow the ash out of it!! :D

a nice £200 lid
a nice £200 lid
Depending on his current lid that's a top idea. If he's new to biking chances are he's got a cheapish lid and he might appreciate a sweet new one.

Pay for a trip to a European race meet, Assen or Le Mans!
Weekend Grandstand seats for Le Mans MotoGP in May are about 100 Euros( www.gpfrancemoto.com ), ferry travel can be booked with www.Speedferries.com for £8 each way and book a hotel in Le Mans for 40 Euros a night at www.hotel-bb.com. A superb weekend can be had by all. I'll see you there!

What sort of jacket/trousers has he got, could get a newie with armour etc. Or a pair of Sidi Vertigos, the Corse ones would look top kit on a Deauville  , prolly have change to buy some gloves too.
i now its boring BUT chain/lock & a cover ........................scrap the chain bit who in there right mind would nick one of those

Cheapest I've seen the Tomtom Rider is £240 (just bought my second one, courtesy of my girlfriends losing my old one  ). Depends how much he tours/goes to new places. I can see how for many they'd be a novelty/not worth the cash, but if he has real need of one (IE goes to a new place miles from home every other week) it'll be great for him.

Bit boring, but how about some honda heated grips? Could make the commuate a lot more tolerable. About £150 IIRC.

If you can get him to cough up for the excess cost then see my post "Le Mans anyone?"

Its a shameless plug I know but as I'm not making any money from it I don't see the harm in telling you about it. :D
