It's hard to find on the site, must be the premature shortsightedness. Google for MCN babe search and you get a good link though. Can't link it as there are exposed female bazooms, and undergarments of a revealing nature :)

Not that I've looked at all.

Paws, if you were to win would you get to be one of the lycra-encased victims being sexually harrassed and letched over at bike shows? I can see that would be a hot ticket... :)

Because mcn is a bike magazine, not another excuse for women to wear next to nothing, for whose entertainment? As women we should save it for our nearest and dearest and sock it to 'em!

I just think its cheap .... why do women feel the need to get their kit off to show to the world...? Its crap titillation that bike magazines, newspapers, media etc should rise above. I know I won't make myself popular for my views, and I am not some oversized, feminist lesbian that is jealous of beautiful women .... I am a slim young women who could pull off one of them photos if I chose, but I don't understand why anyone would want to.........

I don't get offended by 'women' jokes etc. I see the tongue in cheek of it all, but these types of photos make me agree with the women that do it, they are belittling themselves, why can't they see this? MHO x

(Most) women probably feel the need to show it because they like the attention, but then, not being one myself, that's purely speculation!

Paws, voted ;)

By the way, for anyone who can't find it, google, mcn babe search, first link. Gallery 21, last entry is Paws (just thought I'd help out Paws ;) ). Also, the number to text is 8 0 0 1 0, and "babe" followed by the number (eg, 104).

Just for anyone like hovi5 that can't work it out ;)

So Paws, for all the help getting you votes, do I get my bike cleaned by you wearing that outfit too? :D

EDIT: Actually, looking through the galleries, there's a couple of girls in there that I know. Yay!

I with ya Tomcat... kinda.

I can understand women using their 'textbook' beauty as the catalyst for their career, but I must admit to not really getting this kind of thing. The whole 'regular person showing themselves off' thing.

Yeah, so whatever floats your boat - like Viney's point I guess. But I personally don't understand the need for 'strangers giving security to a self-image'. Maybe it's a subconcious, or even realised, need for support.

Like Tomcat, I'm no overweight, crewcutted, dungaree wearing over-zealous women's rights activist. Far from it. At very nealy 37 I'm proud that my titties can hold their own without support and gravity hasn't noticed my **** yet.

So Paws - why did you enter? I'm honestly not trying to be bitchy or anything, but genuinely am intrigued and curious about what motivates people.
This is the first time I've actually 'known' somone who has entered something like this and been able to get a first-hand reply.

Maybe they do it purely & simply because they want to & it makes them feel good, whats the difference between most of these piccies & the women who walk round at the bike meetings with the tops of their leathers hanging down & nothing on up top but a bra, everyone is different some will like some will not, personally i'm not bothered, now some may consider me wierd but to me one of the best things to see a woman in is just a (mans) shirt.

K.....Cant believe your'e 37, like the piccie of you in your leathers, glad gravity is being kind to you, ever thought about wearing a mans shirt.

You know what, i think the same. MCN has a strange way of doing it, like they advertise it as something naughty and slightly sleazy. Its not really artistic if you get me, its just another way MCN gets people to buy their paper (its turning into a lads mag - kum - daily mail rant publication now). Its the same for Bennetts motrcycle insurers; nice to see they spend their money on the bennetts babe squad (the word "babe" is horrendously tacky) and not improving their service. Also explains why insurance premiums are high with them; they quoted me over a grand for insurance on my SV

I dont mind images of topless women, after all, i've been buying superbike magazine for years! But its the way is "sold". MCN makes it all seem tacky.

You're saying "I am clearly right, why don't they agree", I mean, I don't understand it either, but then I don't understand why so many men spent hours every week watching overgrown children kick a back full of air, and they probably don't understand why I'd rather be in the garage. Personally I think fair play to the girls for wanting to enter the comp, its their choice and they must know that some will criticise them for it. Still, some look great, some look not so great and some look yuck. To be completely honest though I would rather see the pages of MCN filled with real news for once, and instead of half naked girls I'd rather see some more of the bike racers and real biking celebrities (with their clothes on).

Anyways, MCN is always half-full of adverts and the other half, well, adverts.

I know there are obviously a lot of strong opinions about this kind of stuff and it does rile me when i look on these sites and they seem completely male orientated, but at the end of the day we are not going to stop it from happening. Not trying to convince you you're wrong in your own opinion... I'm just saying that thinking someone should be the same as you because of the sort of genitals they have is a bit daft- are you defined by your gender? Do you want to be? I doubt it... So why do it to someone else? You might have nothing else in common with them at all, so it's hardly a surprise if they think different is it.

You'd not likely get me posting pics in MCN's Biker Hunks poll :) And not just for humane reasons... But nothing wrong with some other skinny ugly guy doing it if he wants.

Ok for starters I like fit women as much as the next red-blooded male.

But I have to agree with Tomcat and K ...

To be honest I don't see any place for noody pics in a bike mag/paper. If I want to look at naked or near naked women I'd buy a jiz-mag or publications like 'The Sport'. However, I want to know about bikes in a bike mag.

I have never been a big one on buying bike mags as I hate reading jurno BS, but to be honest I actually found it slightly embarrassing when they went to noody pics in some of them. I didn't want to buy a mag where on the cover there is some hotty sprawled half naked on it. I almost wanted to say to the young lady behind the counter "Look its a bike mag not a jiz mag!!" :D). Also I'd feel embarrassed reading it if I visited my dad and was sitting next to him for example.

All this said, if someone want to enter a 'Babe' competition then good luck too them ... I was in no pain flicking through the 'Babe' pages deciding which one I liked the most!!! 8)

K
05-01-07, 01:11 PM
One thing I have against this kind of 'competition' is the feeding of adult insecurities that are all too easily disguised rather than dealt with.

How many entrants would say it was done 'to make them feel good'... where the real question should be why it would make them feel good.
Granted there are those who have a more exhibitionist or extrovert nature than others - differences of personalities that make the world go round - but there are bound to be those who actually 'need' the anonnymous support for their self-image...

... the danger being that if they don't get it then it can do more harm than good. But then a step further than that are those to whom any attention, even harsh critisism to blatant ****taking, is 'good' attention. :?

So back to motivation and I wonder how many are really honest with themselves when it comes to analysing why they entered.

I agree completely TBH, and I suspect that only those that are really honest about it, are the extroverts, which in reality could make up only a small percentage of it.

However, I'm the same as the next red-blooded male, and freely admit to looking at the things published on the galleries. I suppose that makes me part of the problem, oh well :)

well put. Yes motivation is what I question. I wonder also why it makes them feel good. My irritation with it is deeper then my own judgment on these girls, it the fact that they don't seem to be able to judge themselves with more integrity then this.

Same motivation as to wear a bikini on the beach rather than a big jumper or old fashioned all in one... or skimpy/figure hugging dress/clothes when out and about etc etc ... they are rejoicing their bodies ... got it flaunt it etc ... why shouldn't they?

Some people work hard to keep their bodies in shape, if you work hard at something you might want to show it off and get pleasure when people comment how 'good' you are looking!??

As an analogy, if you were an artist, why shouldn't you post your art up for everyone to look at!?!?

To be honest I don't see any place for noody pics in a bike mag/paper. When I want to look at naked or near naked women I buy a jiz-mag or publications like 'The Sport'.

Fixed that for you :P

Voted for you Paws :thumright:

Checked them all out and...... No.8....Wow! My winner by far. I like the fact that even though you know she's not wearing much, it's not blatently obvious. It's her face she wants you to see.

I know there are obviously a lot of strong opinions about this kind of stuff and it does rile me when i look on these sites and they seem completely male orientated, but at the end of the day we are not going to stop it from happening. The only thing we can do is make sure that the girls we do have to put up with looking at are at least decent  .

My 2p worth.

Oh, and i am a fat, crop haired, rug munching, dungaree wearing, right leg dragging feminist.

#8 was my choice too :smt055 ... Wanna 'share' her!?!? :D

I went up to a lass at the NEC who was on a bike with my camera, she was all like 'how do you want the photo'. I said "can you move your leg its blocking the exhaust"...

But that's me...

This would be a good point , rejoice your body, excellent, go for it, but is a motorbike magazine the place for that? With a title of 'babes'?

I think its yet another PR stunt, using the beautiful female form out of context and exploiting some womens need for some sort of recognition. And haven't mcn done well out of it so far, all these hits, and not considering the cost of all those texts ..... bingo for mcn.

Some of them look really cheap, and it's quite obvious others are professional models, the quality I have to say is quite "mixed".

I see your point - though personally I'd rather wear a big jumper on the beach if the weather's like this!

Thing is, there is potentially a significant difference in the motivation to go out on the town or to a beach wearing something you look good in rather than posing for something you hope/think will make you look good.
Everyone likes to be complimented, but there is a big motivational difference between desire and require. :?

Thanks for voting.

Wow, ive causec quite a stir here lol!
Well first of all, thanks to all those that have voted for me, huggs,
secondly-cheers to the girls that dont really see why im doing it but arent being catty about it,its nice to NOT get slated for once! :D

Ive entered for a few reasons...
1) Im an ACTUAL biker babe! i DO own and ride bikes, i work in a bike shop, and if i could fit my bikes in the house-thats where they would be garaged :D Im fed of of hearing about the models that get picked to do these things as 99% of them havent a clue about bikes.

2) How many models have you seen with OBVIOUS tattoos/piercings.. 8)

3) Ive got the figure, im happy to show it off whilst i can,im sick of seeing stick insect models, im like my sv-curvy :D and im 100% happy that way. And im not exactly shy..ive got paw print tattoos on my "chest"

Basically im a cheeky biker lass whose up for a laugh, i dont expect to get through but if you never enter you never know..

lol, true enough ... although them nips in this weather .. ummmmm ;)

No, I see it as the same thing ... if you like to 'dress up' to go out its coz it makes you feel good about yourself and you want to people to see you in all your glory. This is just for the more extrovert of us. I see no harm.

We all require a bit of a morale boost about our appearance from time to time, even temptresses like yourself ;)

...

At the end of the day mostly men buy bike mags ... if men stop desiring women and women stopped 'putting out' the human race would go extinct ... unfortunately 's3x sells' ... it is always gonna be a good sales tactic as it is a well known fact that if the blood supply is elsewhere that men can't think with their heads!! ... however where i have such a small appendage the blood loss isn't enough to make men like me actually buy the magazine .. but I was happy enough to browse them pages ;)

I have no problem with women wearing not much. No probs at all.

Ive also got to say its nice to be able to "dress up" and look "girlie"....
My job and where i live mean 99% of the time im in jeans and a jumper/hoodie (I live on a farm), i have to wear a a uniform at work-which isnt exactly flattering to say the least.

Those who know me, and runt does :D , knows that im happyiest* in jeans and a hoodie, big clumpy boots, noo make up and hair scrapped up in a ponytail of some sort. (*or my leathers, and even then i still dont have good a good hair style! ) Im not a pub/club kinda gal..i prefer to be in the garage playing with me bikes or landrover or out off-roading/horse riding. So its V rare you will see me dressed up like that, hence why i make the most of it. :D

*jaw drops*

Its alright people, return to your daily chores, this was just a temporary hiccup.

Good luck Paws :) Its tough competition (and in my opinoin dubious on the feminism side of things) but, if it's what you want to do, go for it. :)

Tomcat - Holy crap, you're brave... You've not seen me shot down enough to get the message? Well, this time people have stuck up for your point of view... and I support your opinion as well. In that sort of beaten down way... but well done on getting the up front support.

And I HAVE noticed the other threads that seemed to have incited a little guarded feminism by the sensible ladies on the site... I DO understand that I AM the 'screaming feminist' of the site...
