Who would be interested in doing a minimoto GP?? I'd need to ring to get up to date details, but it would be a couple of hours one evening. The event format is a series of practice and qualifying sessions and then final races to decide the champion. Its all done on their hire bikes and should come in at ~£30ea if we can get 25-30ppl (again I'd need to ring to get exact pricing, but that is ballpark, there more there are, the less it is per head IIRC).
The track I know is a place near Bristol, here is their website:- http://www.minimoto.co.uk/contacts_links.html
Location Map:-Map (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=390000&Y=180000&width=700&height=400&gride=391222&gridn=180892&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=pc&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=SN146BT&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=1&scale=1000000)
FYI lots of minimoto guff in this thread that inspired this:-

if it was weekend and i wasnt at work then it sounds like a bit of a laugh besides bristols only an hour from wycombe if your having fun. never had a go on one of those tiny monkey bikes, all id need is a guaranty that it wouldnt pack up as soon as a fat git like me sits on it.
would love to but its miles away for me

Its gotta be easier for me to corner on a minimoto than on my SV

Ok well we haven't been overwhelmed by takers so far ... so perhaps just arrange a meetup at a normal rider-owner event. Sunday 4-8pm is the one I/we normally opt for.
You can hire bikes. The hire bikes are actually v-good, not just cheap knackered junk.
I also have my old 'cag' I could take along and don't mind people having a go on to get a 'taster' ... the cag is less daunting a ride than the hire bikes (which are actually pretty hot!!).
Its £20 per rider owner entry ... if there are 3 of you using my cag then that is ~£7 ea (you kinda pay per bike so it doesn't matter you are swapping rider) ... oh plus a copula quid each towards fuel/oil. So say a tenner ea all in ... for a potential of an hour and a bit in the saddle each (believe me an hour of being in them shapes and on your @ss is more than enough for a first time ;)).
Does this sound like an idea?? :?

would it be compulsory to break a collarbone?

I thought this was a great idea, until we did it for my lad (Saint Matt) on his 18th. There were 3 x 15 minute races, which seem short, but after about 5 minutes of being crouched over with my knees stuck out at a funny angle it was just bloody agony. Maybe I'm just too old. Didn't help when I ran wide and went over the barrier head first either !
Cheers Keith

They most certainly are uncomfortable!! :D I just wear a boiler suit ... there is no way I could make them shapes in me leathers!! :D As it is indoors there is little abrasion so a boiler suit with jeans under is fine, you could never loose any skin even like that!! 8)
When I first did it I musta crashed at nearly every corner during the evening whilst trying to establish the grip levels ... and some of the straights too!! :D its all part of the fun!! :)
socommk23 - I kinda automatically figured you were up for it on my next visit (whenever that will be, probably next weekend or the one after 8)).
Weazelz - It's looking like a Sunday 4-8 job anyway, so should suit you perfectly.

This time of year the weather is so unpredictable I am not sure realistically an outdoor track is on the cards. There is Matchams Bournemouth too. Perhaps more of a summer consideration?
Although it might be interesting to see what the B1s 'raun' tyres are like!?!? :D
Have you invested in a new rear sprocket and got that puncture sorted yet?!?! :)

no i havent yet...just gonna look for a sprocket
and no i still need to get the puncture sorted...was gonna do it with new slicks at some point!

Tempting but too far im afraid, if you do it, get a recording of the event and put it up, that would be pretty cool :D

I have an essentially new* set of slicks I took off my B1 rep (Where the other bike is fitted with the wet tyres, I am now used to them and like them, so took the slicks off and fitted some wet tyres).
My new tyres cost me £22 ... you can have the essentially new slicks I took off for a tenner :)
*Like I said never got my new bike going yet as the cylinder fell apart ... so they have down about 4 unsuccessful laps of the track ...
Here you go, get a 76t .... £6.75 (you gotta love how cheap minimotoing is ;) ).

You will only get a CAG for that ... or a 2nd hand B1 ... you know my views on both ... if you are lucky you might find a bike like yours ... nothing wrong with it (yet ;)) just the owner isn't experience enough to get it working properly and given up ... (as I said before I was very close to giving up myself when I first got mine!!!)
Oh and as for the 4 lap thing ... with a takeoff revvs off 15,000 rpm(250 revs per second) its no wonder any manufacturing floors in the barrel get picked up pretty quick ;)
Oh and how much chain adjustment you got left???

The cags are MUCH slower than the B1s ... the cags have ~1/3 the power...
Whilst perusing the MCN 'Babes' pages to see if there was any new contestants since yesterday (and there is 8)) I noticed this tab ...
Its a list of minimoto places around the UK!!!

You have 2 weeks to get them tyres changed and the sprocket on then ;) ... how much adjustment do you have in the chain? My fist bike took a 78 with standard chain, my second needed more chain to get a 76 on ...
I have some spare chain if we need to splice some more in ... but I don't have a chain tool (borrowed the one at hully last time) ...
Do you have a chain tool or bearing in mind you sound like you work in engineering access to a press at work?? 8)

will be £25 plus ammo...think £6 for 3000rnds and i can sort out a gun for you as its only open to those that have there own gear.
otherwise wear what you like....pref all black! you WILL get dirty and you WILL get shot! which can hurt but not that bad! lol
get hit , shout...HIT! put your hand up and walk away shouting "dead man walking"!
its all good fun based on honesty as there is no paint.
