Ok, so at the mo we either have buying friends … plain giving the stuff away or re-investing …

Have to say none of the above ideas are grabbing me … you might as well stop asking as none of you are going to get anything :P … unless you agree to sleep with me or summin!!! And lets face it Grinch would probably sell his botty for £3, let alone £3k … so I have plenty of loot left!!

Thing is I know I have lots of ‘sensible’ things I could do with the money (like pay off some of the mortgage, home improvements, invest it again etc etc) … but I don’t wanna … I wanna have fun with it … I don’t want to just blow it, but I don’t want to be overly sensible either … and I know if i don't allocate it to something then it'll just get absorbed in normal expenditure ... so come on … ideas?!!? :)

I've already got more bikes than I know what to do with ... the only bikes that I could be persuaded I should buy are gonna be setting me back far more than £3k ;)

As for holiday, yeah I am due one ... perhaps Australia or America ... always said I'd do that someday ... or Scuba diving round a barrier reef ... or Skydiving in the grand canyon ... hummm .... :?

What to spend the money on? Personally, I have 4K set aside for a damn good holiday.

The AR should be fun too though, in light of recent comments

I cashed in my last shares from my work a while back... Obviously the price immediately went up by 50p :) But the cash is tucked away in a moderate interest instant access savings account, where it will remain for the moment, for I'm boring. £3000? Fire it in a cash ISA. Spend the £12 you get back per month on petrol :)

I'd definately recommend getting it into some sort of seperate account, it's all too easy to just dribble money away if it's in a current account, and that's no fun.

It was in the plan to do a few* Minitwins rounds this season anyway. :) I was also going to get the cams and rear shock upgraded too, also the forks upgraded in my spare bike and swap the ZX636 shock to that. But having second thoughts about that now, I could do a lot more with the ~£1k that'll cost me to do all that!! I'll probably still get the forks done in #2 and get another ZX636 shock for it, but might leave the rest ... still not decided, I'll prolly change my mind again next week!! :D

*Never intended to do a full season.

My apologies for posting a serious reply...

but with interest rates going up yet again, I'd use it to pay off some of the mortgage.

(of course, in reality heart would win over head and I'd put it towards a new bike or car)

There have been quite a few posts since, so it has been lost if you haven’t read the entire thread, but for future reference I basically mentioned above that I am not interested in re-investing or being 100% sensible with this money …

As for the Minitwins racing, that was on the cards anyway, so I had earmarked some funds to pay for my wildcarding (i.e. doing a round or two) already … I could use this cash to totally trick-out my track SVs, but bearing in mind I am supposed to be retired from racing and not going to do a full season, I really don’t think that is a worthy application of this money … I have ‘been there done that’ with bike racing so wanna use this money for something else …

Although I do fancy a euro trip, not only do I not have any like minded biker buddies to go with I don’t think that’ll take the whole £3k …

Oh and as for the new car/bike I bought myself a sports car last month ... :D ... and am happy with my current fleet of bikes. If I had tens of thousands to whittle away I'd consider some new bikes, but to be fair, 3k isn't going to buy me anything I want ...

Why doesn't that surprise me :P

Why doesn't that surprise me :P

Its not as flash as it sounds … where I use the bike for commuting and the van for all other stuff, I haven’t owned a car for the past 2 years as having a car, van and several bikes was just getting silly, so ditched the car …

I had like 9 years CAR NCD (car, bike and van all have different NCD as they are different classes of vehicle) and this ‘times out’ after two years of non-insurance. So I either lost my NCD or got another car to re-light the insurance timer. Bearing in mind I don’t NEED a car, I had a couple of choices … buy any old juker with some T&T for say £100 or so and insure that, never intending to use it. Or buy something that I might want/like … I always liked the ‘round shaped’ MR2s, they go back a fair way now so can be got for reasonable cash … so I got a T-Bar (kinda like magnums Ferrari roof for them that don’t know what a T-Bar is) one of them.

I remember back when I was at Uni in the mid 90s, one of my lecturers had one of these MR2s and he looked well cool … I said to my roommate then ‘I’ll have one of them one day’ … so although 10 years down the line - prophecy now made true :D … Can sign that off my list!! :D … But have to say I am bored of it already!!

Might be more fun when the sun comes out and I can take the roof off! 8)
